Q: 1. For the life of me I can't get the lens hood to attach. It's like the lens hood marked H-HS043 is too small. Am I doing something wrong?
A: The lens has a decorative ring that must be removed to attach the lens hood. Hold the lens so that you see 42.5 with the front of the lens on top. You will see two white marks aligned with the 42.5. One of those marks is on the lens itself; the top mark belongs to the decorative ring. You must grasp the ring quite firmly to remove it; turn it counter-clockwise and remove it. Now you can attach the lens hood. Note that the decorative ring will not be properly attached until the two white marks are aligned. The lens hood itself does not have a corresponding white mark, although it should. Both the decorative ring and the lens hood have a definite click when properly attached.
Q: 2. Anyone use this lens with a camera that lacks image stabilization?I'm a wedding videographer currently shooting with G7s. All my lenses right now have IS, so I'm wondering if this lens will still perform well without any IS. All shooting will be on monopod, slider, or gimbal. Thanks!
A: It is a great lens, you just need to bring up your shutter speed one or two stops to prevent any possible noticeable camera shake.
Q: 3. How is it for viewing photo slide transparencies on a light table?
A: This magnifier will work for viewing photo slide transparencies on a light table. Since you are using a light table you will not use the built-in LED's 3X magnification is adequate. If you need more magnification consider the Carson LH-30 VersaLoupe 10x Magnifier.
Q: 4. Can this lens fit on a Sony a5100 camera?
A: No. This would only be suitable for Olympus, Panasonic, and MFT-mount cine cameras.
Q: 5. Does this lens come with a hood? If not what is a high quality one I can purchase?

Q: 6. how many degrees does the focus ring approx. rotate, 135, 180, 225 ?
A: The focus ring on the Voigtlander Nokton 42.5mm f/0.95 Micro Four Thirds Lens rotates approx 270 degrees.
Q: 7. Why isn't the silver version available in the US? I see it available in Japan via Ebay.
A: At this time, the manufacturer only distributes the black version to US retailers.
Q: 8. The Panasonic LUMIX G 42.5mm f / 1.7 is stabilized and the Power OIS is always on. Would it conflict with the stabilization of my Olympus E-M5 mII ..?
A: Thanks for the answers below, I did some research on preview, which, btw, is a GREAT resource. It confused me a bit, but seemed solution is in the ability to turn off one or the other. I do also understand, when I am able to upgrade to the Lumix GX8, which has in camera IS they are compatible....
Q: 9. Since this is a full manual lens, when you stop down the lens, does the image in the viewfinder grow darker? Does that make shooting at f 16 problematic? How is exposure control handled?
A: I haven't noticed that the image gets darker as you stop down. Maybe the EVF in the Olympus camera that I use it with compensates for the loss of light as the lens is stopped down. I haven't shot at F16. It's said that the effective depth of field in micro 4:3 cameras is the crop factor multiplied by the F-stop. The crop factor for the micros 4:3 system is two, which would make the effective depth of field at F16 similar to F32 on a full-frame camera. There might be diffraction issues with the lens beyond F11. At F8 or even F5.6 you can get clean, edge-to-edge sharpness with this lens.
Q: 10. Does this lense have a metal mount? Manufactured in Japan or China?
A: Yes it does, and it's made in Japan. It's an excellent lens, and at 1.7 it compares very well to the Nocticron. I sold my Nocticron when I got this lens, it's that good.
