Leica puts a new spin on their perennial favorite, the 10x42 Trinovid HD Binoculars with phase corrected prisms, coated with highly reflective multi-coatings to increase reflectivity and anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics to boost light transmission through the lenses. These optical coatings work together to produce high-contrast images with true color rendition and minimal distortion. This optical performance is coupled with a powerful 10x magnification, wide apparent angle of view and generous eye relief to produce an immersive viewing experience.

Complementing the views produced by the Trinovid HD are construction details that make this optic able to stand up to the rigors of a life lived on the trail. First is a lightweight, sturdy, and corrosion-resistant magnesium alloy chassis that makes these binoculars light and easy to handle. The body is covered with a textured rubber armor that protects them from bumps and impacts while giving them a slip-resistant grip in cold or wet conditions. Their optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and submersible as well as fogproof when moving between extreme temperature fluctuations. To make handling the Trinovid easier are tethered objective lens covers that flip down and out of the way for observing, plus an ocular rainguard that attaches to the strap.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I am looking for a high end -high quality Bino. I am down to this model Leica 10 x 42 and the Swarovski 10 X 42 swaroVision. Can anyone help with comparison info, especially if you have used these glasses? I will use these mostly for wildlife viewing and helping me find good images for wildlife photography. Thanks for your analysis. J.L.

A: Personally I would go with the Swarovski EL 10x42 SwaroVision Binoculars. I have compared both models side by side in a low light setting, and the Swaro's are superior. There is a slight brightness difference. Also there is more glass in both barrels of the Swarovski's. Build quality wise it's a better binocular too.

Q: 2. Do the Leica 10x25 Trinovid BCA binoculars come with lens covers? If so, are they four individual lens covers? or a double-wide for the ocular lenses + two singles for the objective lenses? Thanks for any help you can offer.

A: This is from the MFR website, Delivery: Binoculars, carrying cord, Cordura bag with belt loop

Q: 3. I would like a more complete description of the cordura case, for example, does it have a belt loop and zipper, etc?

A: The Leica binocs I bought in December were a gift. We did not include a case. We have the same ones that we have had for many, many years ago and have never used a case. We wrap them in our clothes when we travel. Otherwise they are around our necks for instant use. Sorry I could not help you with the case.

Q: 4. what is the difference between this model and the ultravids?

A: The Ultavids are waterproof. These are not. The Ultavids are full of pressurized nitrogen(?) gas that supposedly allow for more light and have better coating on the glass. The actual glass is the same though. Basically the Ultavids are slightly brighter and are waterproof.

Q: 5. is this made in Germany?

A: Yes this model is made in Germany.

Q: 6. Is this model made in Germany?

A: No. All Leica Trinovids are produced and manufactured in Leica's Portugal factory.

Q: 7. what is the country of manufacture, please?

A: I just found on my Zeiss Terra ED 8x42 bins the stamp, "Made in China". Please forgive my not being politically correct but I didn't but a pair of Zeiss binoculars to discover that they are made in China. They are not made made in Portugal.

Q: 8. How do you put a strap on Leica bcm binoculars

A: Find used items on eBay. They will show pictures of binoculars with strap.

Q: 9. I got this bins for my wife for xmas. She loves them. But I need a solid soft case. Any recommendations? Thanks!!

A: I agree a case would be nice, but I do not have a case for mine.

Q: 10. Are these waterproof? How are they in for use in the rain - will rain damage them?

A: The optical tubes are O-ring sealed and argon filled to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging if the weather turns or they take an accidental spill in a stream or puddle.
