Upgrade the memory in your 2013 Mac Pro (MacPro6,1) using the 16GB DDR3 1866 MHz RDIMM Memory Module from OWC / Other World Computing. This single memory module features a capacity of 16GB, a clock speed of 1866 MHz, a bus speed of PC3-14900, and a 240-pin RDIMM form factor. It also operates using 1.5V, has a CAS Latency of CL=13, a module bandwidth of 14.9 GB/s, a component configuration of 2048M x 72, is registered, and is equipped with ECC technology. Registered memory places less electrical loads on the memory controller and allows single systems to remain stable with more memory modules than they would have otherwise. By offering ECC (Error Checking and Correcting) technology, this RAM will help your workstation encounter fewer errors that can corrupt data sets and introduce system issues. Additionally, this memory module is equipped with an Apple-specified thermal sensor, which ensures that the RAM maintains a safe thermal operating range.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This is not an ECC type, but will it work on MacPro late 2013?

A: This memory is ECC memory and is made for the 2013 Mac Pro, but it is Registered memory which cannot be mixed with non-Registered modules.

Q: 2. Can this be used on an imac 5K 2016?

A: Sorry, no. This memory is for the 2013 Mac Pro.

Q: 3. I have 2X4gb ram in my iMac 5K, would this work with two 8gb in the remaining two slots?

A: Yes, you can populate the two empty slots with these and keep the Apple memory installed.

Q: 4. Why is this product/package prized so high or so differently? Say, with other OCW 32GB package? I'm talking about the OWC / Other World Computing 32GB DDR3 1867 MHz SO-DIMM Memory Kit (2 x 16GB, Late 2015 iMac Retina 5K) which is prized at $508, while the other package is just around $200.

A: What is the item code for the other 32GB kit that you are comparing this one to?

Q: 5. Can this be used to upgrade the memory on an 5k imac late 2015?

A: I couldn't get the OWC 16GB DIMMs to work reliably in a 64GB (4x16G) nor in a 32GB (2x16G) configuration in my late 2015 5k 27 iMac 17,1, so I had to return them -- system would panic and reboot in less than a minute while running BMD Disk Speed test. After reverting back to Apple-supplied 2x4GB configuration, everything was stable again. Next I'm trying a 4x8GB config using Crucial (Micron) DIMMs, which are also much less expensive.

Q: 6. I have a RAM with error among 4x32GB. Can I replace just one?

A: They should be replaced in pairs.

Q: 7. Does this work for a mid 2011 27 iMac 3.1Ghz Intel Core i5?

A: No, this should be the correct memory for a 27 Mid-2011 (iMac 12,2).a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1212947-REG/owc_other_world_computing_owc1333ddr3s32s_32gb_4_x_8gb.html target= _blank https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1212947-REG/owc_other_world_computing_owc1333ddr3s32s_32gb_4_x_8gb.html/a

Q: 8. Is this compatible with an IdeaPad L340-17API 81LYthat does not have 4 meg sodered on the motherboard?

A: Yes, it would be compatible.

Q: 9. I have 8 gigs RAM stock (4 *2). Can I add one 8 gig to make 16 or do I need to replace the 4s with 2 8s to make,16?

A: Either go with two more 4's to make 16 or 2 8's (leave the 2 4's you have in) for a total of 24. This ram needs to be installed in pairs.

Q: 10. Will this 64Gb RAM upgrade speed up a 2013 Mac Pro (currently with 32Gb RAM) running heavy video / 4K content and applications?

A: That depends. Are you running out of memory? If you still have 50% of memory available while you are running the app then you probably won't notice a difference. It might be possible you need a processor upgrade instead. Find out why it is running slow first, then upgrade the correct part. But, yes this will give you 32GB more RAM if you install the upgrade, and theoretically improve performance.
