The Sensei PRO 58-62mm Brass Step-Up Ring permits the use of 62mm threaded filters on lenses with 58mm filter threads. It features brass construction and is coated with a matte black finish to minimize reflections. Brass offers enhanced durability and resistance to warping over conventional aluminum rings and is also less prone to jamming or binding to additional step-up rings, filters, or lenses. This step-up ring has large side knurlings to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have attached an 82 mm Peter McKinnon Variable ND filter to this 77-82 step up ring and cannot detach the ring from the filter to use with an 82 lens. Any suggestions or help?

A: These Sensei 72-82mm Rubberized Filter Wrench (2-Pack) BH #SEFWM7282 are useful if you are having difficulty removing a filter from your lens or the ring from your filter. https://bhpho.to/3L9PT6f

Q: 2. What size of a lens cap would fit this step up ring?

A: Use a 77mm-It will keep threads covered. For any step up or down rings, use the end opening size to protect all the interior parts and easy removal. You can also use the same cap on the filter screwed into the rings

Q: 3. Any issues using this Step-Up ring with a PolarPro 82mm Peter McKinnon Signature Edition II Variable ND 1.8 to 2.7 Filter?

A: The Sensei PRO 72-82mm Brass Step-Up Ring will work with the PolarPro 82mm Peter McKinnon Signature Edition II Variable ND 1.8 to 2.7 Filter.

Q: 4. Will this work with a Sigma 18-35mm f 2.1 lens?

A: If you are referring to the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 lens, yes the lens has a 72mm thread and so the step up ring will allow you to use 77mm filters.

Q: 5. If I flip this around can I use it as a step-down ring? I know I'll have to deal with vignetting (well, maybe not technically vignetting, but overlap into the image area), but will it work until I can get the correct size filters? Or are the threads threaded in such a way that it can only screw on to the lens on one side and the filter on the other and cannot be flipped?

A: No, this can only be used as a step up ring.

Q: 6. What lens cap do i need to fit this ring?

A: This is a step up ring to fit a larger filter into smaller diameter lens. So to answer your question the lens cup will need to be 77mm.

Q: 7. Is it more practical to buy a brass step up ring, or will an aluminum ring do the same thing at a lesser charge?

A: Both rings work well. The aluminum rings are softer and the brass rings are harder. More or less they do the same thing.

Q: 8. I have a Canon 24-70mm ef L lens f.2.8 uses 82mm filter. I want to step down to myCanon 24-105mm ef L lens with 77mm filter will this step down ring work?

A: It depends... If your camera has an APSC-size sensor, it will probably work. On a full-frame, it is very likely that you will end up with dark corners at the wide end, because at 24mm the lens has a wide view, and the step-down ring + the filter will extend too far forward and cause vignetting. Best way is to hold your filter about 3-4mm in front of the lens and see if it does cause vignetting.

Q: 9. Will the 72mm to 77mm Sensei Pro Brass step up ring prevent me from mounting the hood on the rx10iii?

A: Yes it will

Q: 10. Is there a vignetting issue?

A: There is no vignetting issue when using the PolarPro Brass Step-Up Ring (77-95mm).

Use it to add a wide angle lens to a camcorder and it does the job flawlessly. Very good metal build for this ring vs. cheaper plastic and that counts when mounting a lens with it. If it was just a filter not so much.

I purchased this step up ring to use with a wide angle adaptor (Raynox 6600). I love B+W and only purchase their filters and rings as I know they are made of quality materials.

I use this ring on my HV30 for a Raynox 6600 wide lens and it is perfect. The one I got with the kit was cheap plastic and didn't hold the lens in place. The B+W ring is very good. It is thin, holds the lens very well and it looks like it will last quite some time. So far no cons with this ring. Great buy.
