The 322RC2 Ball Head from Manfrotto can be attached to tripods or other support systems that feature a 3/8"-16 mount. By squeezing the control handle's integrated trigger, the head's ball-and-socket joint can be quickly swiveled, angled, fully tilted, or returned to its upright position. A thumbwheel set within the control handle can be rotated to apply tension control to the ball-and-socket joint's movements. Once the squeeze trigger is released, any adjustments to the position of the ball-and-socket joint are locked into place.

The control handle is initially oriented to provide a horizontal grip for the right hand. However, the included 322RA Quick Release Adapter with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate are detachable and can be repositioned to enable left-handed use with a horizontal grip. Alternatively, the 322RC2 can be transformed into a joystick-grip ball head suitable for right or left-handed use with the control handle oriented vertically and the quick release adapter attached to the top of the configuration. The 322RC2 has a load capacity of 17.6 lb.

Cameras or accessories that are compatible with a 1/4"-20 mount can be connected to the quick release plate, which measures 1.7 x 2.1 x 0.4" and has a rubberized, non-slip surface.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Wondering if this plate works with an old Manfrotto 352RC Ball Head?

A: Yes. I worked in a camera store for 7 years. This this plate will fit on the older 352RC head.

Q: 2. Does the quick release shown in the picture come with the actual head or is that sold separately?

A: The mount and baseplate are included. Is also reversible for left hand operation.

Q: 3. What is the main difference between this and the Manfrotto 327RC2 Ball Head? https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/680140-REG/Manfrotto_327RC2_327RC2_Joystick_Head.html/qa

A: The 322RC2 is an older model with friction control for the ball sphere. The 327RC2 is newer and lacks the friction control.

Q: 4. Can I mount this head to the Bogen 3021 tripod?

A: Definitely. This is probably my favorite tripod head. They do wear out over time (The ball doesn't grip as well as it should and eventually your only option is to replace it.) I am on my third one. I've tried other heads but none have been as flexible and easy to work with as the grip action ball head.

Q: 5. Is this available in a left hand version so that I can adjust and shoot quickly with my right hand? Sounds funny but my ballhead adjusts on the left side......

A: This grip is customizable to be usable with either one's left or right hand.

Q: 6. I have a Vanguard Auctus Plus 283CT tripod, will the Pistol grip work?

A: Yes, the Manfrotto 322RC2 Ball Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate and 322RA Quick Release Adapter (B&H# MA322RC2) will attach to the Vanguard Auctus Plus 283CT Carbon Fiber Tripod (B&H# VAAP283CT).

Q: 7. Can this action grip be used on a monopod as well?

A: Yes it can, as long as your monopod has a 3/8 male threaded attachment point on top.

Q: 8. How do I set this head so my camera lens will point upward toward the sky?

A: If you want to point your camera directly skywards, you may have to rotate your camera's placement on the quick release plate by 90°.

Q: 9. Manfrotto 322RC2 head no longer holds tension well. How do I tighten it up?

A: Manfrotto will be able to advise on that:ManfrottoTel: (201) 818-9500 or repairs 480-940-1103Email: info@manfrottodistribution.usWebsite: http://www.manfrotto.com/

Q: 10. is this ball head compatible with A2190T Benro Tripod?

A: Yes it will

I had been using a 3 way head with handles, but needed a sturdier head. Ball head seemed the way to go and after reading about this grip-style head I thought it would be easier to use than fiddling with the small knob on a standard ball head. It is and the grip handle gives great leverage. Right hand on the grip, left hand on the lense, and I can point this rig wherever I want. It stays put the first time. Satisfied with the gripping power on a 100-400L Zoom (or any wide angle) and 40D with flash attached. Not too heavy to carry in combo with tripod for long hikes.

I have an old tripod head similar to this that I really liked, but this one is even nicer. The grip action movement is so smooth and easy to use.

I love this Head! It's simply awesome. It's a VERY fast positioning head, just release the grip and shoot, I use it with a Manfrotto 190CXPRO4 PRO CARBON FIBER TRIPOD. The unit together supports my 5D MKII and my EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM Autofocus Lens with ease. I use it mostly for macro, low light, landscape photography. Great quality build and high quality item as you would come to expect of the Manfrotto items and love it.

I am using this under my Nikon D5000 using a 18-200mm Nikkor lens. There is absolutely no issue on the weight and movement of the grip head. I was worried that the head would flop around when tension was released but there is nice residual retention and the head is very smooth to use. Everything appears well thought out. The only thing that I am not 100% on is the lock for the adapter. It is simply a very small brass lever that is moved over. I would have liked to have seen it be a bit more substantial but other than that I have no issues. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quality user friendly ballhead.

this is a great ball head. you can do all your adjusting with one hand, it converts easily for left or right hand or even vertical. no knobs to tighten or loosen, just pull the grip. dont even have to take your eye off the view finder. i am right handed, but i switched the ball head to left hand operation, since my right hand is adjusting the camera settings. this thing is great for macro, portraits, kids, or action. moves quick with the pull of the handle and stays put. only con is that it is wide, so carrying it on the tripod is a little more cumbersome than smaller heads. however, i will trade that off for the other good parts of this any day.

There's absolutely no reason anyone who owns a Manfrotto should go without this grip ballhead! It's so easy to use and the fact that the grip can accommodate a lefty like me makes it even more appealing! Do yourself a favor and just click on add to cart. You won't regret it.

Used to mount an EL Camera to self-made mount. The ballhead works great-- it's stable, strong, easy to use, and allows views at all the angles we need.

I love this grip action head with my Manfrotto 190 CXPro3 tripod. It's a little heavier than most ball heads, but that's because it's bigger. The friction setting lets me set it up for different cameras to keep it nice and sturdy.
