Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I don't get it? Does the end file run fast? What would be the purpose of that? Yes I can slow it down, is it necessary?Somebody mentioned constantly having to stop to adjust the white balance. Really?

A: According to Wolverine, they state that the playback speed is 30 frames per second. With film recorded at 24 frames per second, you will not see a huge difference. With film recorded at 16 frames per second, you may use most any video player or editing software to slow down the playback speed. Wolverine states there should be no need to have to stop the scanning to adjust the white balance.

Q: 2. Is possible to get the Super 8 movie with audio using this Wolverine MovieMaker?

A: No, it does not record sound.

Q: 3. Can I take a part the 8 mm or high 8 tapes and put it in the wolverine movie maker

A: The Wolverine Data 8mm and Super 8 Movie Reels2Digital MovieMaker (BH #WOSUPER8) is only designed to work with 8mm and Super 8 film. We would not recommend using it with hi-8 tapes.

Q: 4. Can I make a film transfer with open gate (in other words transfer the entire width of the film as to see the sprocket holes)?

A: My wife sent me a video of the device in action while I was at work. From what I could see it uses the sprocket holes to pull the film frame by frame into the scanner. The finished video didn't have any sprocket holes.

Q: 5. Did anyone try to digitize very dry film? My old one doesn't run well on the 8mm projector because of a little bit shorter distance between frames.

A: This machine operates slower than normal 18fps projector speeds. It also uses the sprocket to advance frames instead of a projector's pull-down claw. For these reasons, if the machine is set at the right format (regular 8mm or super 8mm) and the film is rides comfortably over the sprocket and does not tear in the first foot or so, it should work okay. Old dry film can be slightly revivified by wiping it with a 'film chamois' wet with Kodak Film Cleaner while winding the film between two rewinds.

Q: 6. Will this work with Super 8 negative film? Or is it reversal only?

A: It is designed to work with positive (reversal) film. Keep in mind that it digitizes at a rate of about 2 frames per second. A 30 fps .mp4 file is created by it, so you must use software to adjust the 30 fps .mp4 file down to 18 fps for Super 8 and 16 fps for regular 8 film. If you digitize negative film, you will have to figure out how to invert the picture and do color balance to get the colors right.

Q: 7. Where can I find a 5 inch take up reel for 8mm film?

A: https://www.focusnordic.se/Gepe/Filmhjul has in the WEB-catalog if You not already have found any ask them:Telephone (Sales):+46 (0)31 336 2300FAX:+46 (0)31 44 63 33E-mail Sales:info@focusnordic.se

Q: 8. I am having a problem playing back some of the files. What would cause this?

A: I'm sorry that you're having trouble. For this inquiry, it would be best to e-mail us to askbh@bandh.com so we can investigate further. Thank you.

Q: 9. My films are recording with a split frame, is there anyway I can adjust or correct this?

A: If your moviemaker is a Wolverine check the firmware. latest should be P08a and has a frame adj.

Q: 10. does the wolverine work on sound super 8 mm?

A: It will not transfer/record any audio.
