Safeguard your lens with the Lens Cover for Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8E VR from LensCoat. This water-resistant neoprene cover is custom-built to fit tightly around your lens, and helps protect it against bumps and scratches that may occur while you are out shooting. The neoprene material also acts as a thermal barrier between your hands and the lens, making operation more comfortable in extreme heat or cold.

To install the case, simply slide it onto the lens until it fits correctly. Removing it is just as easy, and allows for switching cases quickly while out on the field. For simplified operation, the case features two plastic windows that can be used for viewing the distance scale and auto-focus and VR settings. The Realtree Max4 design features a wide variety of plant-like patterns that mesh well with trees and vegetation commonly found in wetlands. This makes it well-suited for hiding from birds and other types of wildlife. This product is made in the USA.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the difference between this lens and the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR Lens, other than around a $4000 price difference?

A: The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 600mm f/4G ED VR listed above was originally released in 2007. The new Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR lens, released last year in 2015, uses Nikon's latest technology providing enhanced autofocus tracking and improved optical performance, with fluorite lens elements which help in both reducing chromatic aberration and decreasing the weight of the lens. The new lens weighs 8.3 lbs (as opposed to the 11.5 lbs of the lens you list above, almost 3 lbs lighter, which will be advantageous for long sports games or wildlife shooting). The new Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 600mm f/4E FL ED VR Lens also has an electromagnetic diaphragm to assist in maintaining consistent exposures when shooting fast action and using continuous burst shooting.

Q: 2. Whenever I shake the back side of lens near my ear i hear a sound that something is moving inside the lens. However it is working properly when mounted. Is this normal?

A: I have one and it doesn't make any sound when I shake it. As long as it's working, that's a good thing!

Q: 3. Does this lens requires body af fine tuning?

A: At this time I haven't needed to do any fine tuning. I am using it on a Nikon D750 and a D7000. I anticipate using it on the D500 in the future.

Q: 4. Is this lens compatible with the D5100?

A: The Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED AF-S DX Autofocus Lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D5100.

Q: 5. does this lens work with a Nikon D90

A: The Nikon AF-S 70-300mm lens is fully compatible with any Nikon DSLR and any Nikon SLR that can control aperture through the camera body, so this lens is compatible with the Nikon D90.

Q: 6. Does this lens work with d3200?

A: It should be compatible with the D3200.

Q: 7. Has this lens ever save you from total embarrassment on show your portfolio day?

A: This lens is very sharp. And in this range and level of lens it is great and if you need the range of 600mm it will do the job very well.

Q: 8. What is the distance you can cover at f22 as if one is shooting a vista or distant mountain range? How close can one shoot and still be in sharp focus? Are there any specs that do not match what Nikon claims? Where have you found the best price in the USA to buy new?

A: The minimum focus distance is 12.63' (3.85 m). Shooting a landscape at f/22 with that lens you are most likely set to infinity so it will all be in focus. The lens is a very good and the specifications from Nikon are correct. The version lens you clicked on is an import and does not have a Nikon warranty. This is the USA version and it has a Nikon USA warranty, a href= http://bhpho.to/1cnVy7G. target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1cnVy7G./a You can see the prices listed next to the product.

Q: 9. Will this lense work with my new nikon series 1 j 4 compact camera. ? I have heard that they have come out with a new lense for nikon series 1 cameras, does it mean my old VR lense is not compatible with my J 4? Would appreciate any help!

A: The Nikon 1 mirrorless cameras have a different mount from the Nikon DSLRs, so lenses such as the AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens cannot mount on the Nikon 1 cameras. You would need an adapter to use Nikon DSLR lenses on the Nikon mirrorless cameras.

Q: 10. Is this lens compatible with the Nikon D800 camera

A: The Nikon AF-S VR Zoom 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED is fully compatible with the Nikon D800.

I use this lens for wildlife and landscape. I am thrilled with the results already,(and I am still on a learning curve). I live in the NE and it has been too cold for me to spend the time need with this lens. I read all the reviews too and said how heavy can it be? it's pretty heavy. I think hand held birds in flight would be a real challenge. The cost is ( well you know) but if you can swing it, it is a well made piece of art. Remember if you get a lens this big your gonna need a bigger tripod, and a gimbal if you don't already have one. There goes another couple grand. Life is short, if this is your passion just buy it.

Usually when buying lenses with such zoom capabilities the price margin can get relatively high. If you're someone looking to shoot sports or just get a little more zoom out of a lense for an affordable price this is certainly the way to go. It can focus well even at max zoom which is nice for those really far away shots, however ideal range is prob somewhere around 200mm. The vr is a really nice feature aswell exept when (if) videoing it may get a little weird. The only cons I can really think of are that it feels a little flimsy in your hand due to the entirely plastic body. But as long as you are carefull it can be just as much a positive because it's lighter because of it. People call this nikons workhorse and I would certainly agree
