Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the plate actually weigh 1 lb? That seems kind of high, didn't know if the weight was referring to the shipping weight ...thanks

A: Yea it does. If not exactly, it's close to it. It's a solid piece of metal. Still holding up for me no prob.

Q: 2. How do I mount the Kessler crane on this tripod?

A: The best bet is to get the Hercules Head and a Kessler quick release plate for it.

Q: 3. I want to shoot video of jewelry: macro and ECU & CU with my Nikon d700. I have a steady video tripod. I am wondering if this will work for smooth shots, vertical and horizontal mounting. Also, is there a motor with two or three axis moves avail? This is a two part question. Please share your thoughts and experience. Starting a jewelry photo/video business and have a lot at stake. Thank you mucho!

A: Kessler is one of the top brands for sliders, you will be able to get a very smooth shots with this unit and it can be set up vertically as well. They also offer motorized units, like the Second Shooter Bundle, that you can use for 3-Axis Motorized Slides.

Q: 4. What are the dimensions when closed with the wheels attached? Looks amazing but might be too bulky and wide/thick

A: The Kessler Crane K-Pod Tripod System has a Folded Dimension of 39" x 10.75" x 10" and weight is 22lbs. With dolly attached it would add about 5 inches.

Q: 5. Can this slider be mounted to the Kessler Pocket Jib?

A: Would be difficult to manage. But yes mechanically it can be attached. Stability would be a concern.

Q: 6. Will this fit on a Manfrotto head that uses 501PL quick release plate?

A: No it will not. This plate is not wide enough and to my knowledge will only work with its matching Kessler receiver. For example, I use one that is mounted on my slider, and I have a Kwik Short Camera Plate, that I can attach to the bottom of a small fluid head. The Kessler receiver is mounted to a 100mm half-ball, that sits in my 100mm tripod bowl. Then I can switch between a slider and fluid head on one tripod without removing and switching plates.

Q: 7. Can you mount a tripod head to this slider in order to pan while you slide?

A: Yes, you can via a mounting adapter such as B&H # DIMASD. If the fluid head has 1/4-20 as opposed to 3/8 mount then you can use reducer bushing such as B&H # WIBS100.

Q: 8. Does the jib come with everything you need to keep the camera perfectly level as you tilt up and down, or is there some other fitment that is needed to achieve this? Can I clamp a DSLR to the end of it, move it up and down and the camera will stay perfectly horizontal?

A: As long as you set the level first, you will achieve a level move. The jib is portable so you are limited to the move distance.

Q: 9. Does it work with Peak Design Tripod? It's an Arca-type head, but the length might not be compatible.

A: Depending on which model is acquired please review the following tripod plates that will adapt to most peak design tripods. Quick Release Plates compatible with the Peak Design tripods https://bhpho.to/3DuqL7G

Q: 10. Hi the load capicity indicated is 10lb/4.5 kg. Does it include the counter balance weights or is it just calculated for the camera (or crane and camera)?

A: The load capacity refers to the weight of the camera and accessories.
