A: Yes it will work, personally I would use a heavier stand.

This product is great for holding a reflector, the counterweight at the end is a pretty good balance for your average 43 reflector. As for mounting a speedlight on the end of this thing no problem. I just took out the adapter spigot that comes with the boom mount and slid the 3/8 female end over the smooth metal attachment on the end of the boom. It was a perfect fit so I just used some high powered glue to hold it in place. The counterweight however is not heavy enought to counteract your average speedlight with the boom more than halfway extended. 5

I primarily got this piece of equipment thinking it would help my assistant. At the end of the day it has allowed me to do more shoots without an assistant at all. Saves me time and money, what else could I want from my gear? 5
