Designed for recording interviews, the OLM-20 Dual Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone from Polsen is comprised of two of the well-received OLM-10 omnidirectional lavalier microphones. It terminates in a single 1/8" stereo connector, with each microphone recording to a discrete channel on your DSLR, camcorder, or audio recorder with a microphone input. Not limited to just interview applications, the OLM-20 can be used for presentations, podcasts, webcasts, or any situation where more than one subject needs to be recorded.

The OLM-20's dual electret condenser capsules are designed to deliver clear and natural sound, with their omnidirectional polar pattern providing off-axis response, even if the subject turns their head while talking. Both mics offer low sensitivity to wind and handling noise, as well as vocal plosives.

Thanks to its battery-operated design, the OLM-20 can be used with any camera or recorder that supports a 1/8" stereo mic level input, without the need for additional equipment or adapters. Each microphone records to a discrete channel, and the microphones themselves are labeled left and right. Its 13.5' cable provides 10' of distance between each microphone for comfortable placement, while the included tie clips allow for hands-free use.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I just received this mic and i thought I was two separate mics. they are both on the same cable. how are they used?

A: They are designed to be used simultaneously - for example, it is a handy solution for recording two people in an interview setting.

Q: 2. I am looking for an inexpensive option for binaural recording and these mics look like just the thing. I just need to know, does each mic have two channels (ie, it's own l and r channel) or do each mic function as one channel each when recorded on a dslr?

A: Each mic goes to a difference channel and is separate. However, I don't recommend these for binaural recording, which requires greater sensitivity to be successful. These are very cheap mics and the battery system is clunky. I wish this system was executed in a better quality system but unfortunately it is not. There are better choices for binaural recording.

Q: 3. Can it work with Zoom H5n?

A: Yes it's comparable with the Zoom H5N, however you will need a 3.5mm to XLR adapter in order make the connection into channel 1 and channel 2, you can use the adapter in the link bellow. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387850-REG/Rode_VXLR_VXLR_Mono_Mini_Jack.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 4. If I add a ten foot cable to this for longer distances. Will this negatively affect the audio?

A: No. It will not affect the audio negatively.

Q: 5. does the mic work without the batteries with a recorder?

A: Unfortunately no. The battery in this microphone is required to power the microphone.

Q: 6. I like the idea of having two mics for interviews, but will only need one mic most of the time. Can I deactivate one mic so I have clean sound?

A: You are able to use only one mic for interviews however the mics are not able to be individually deactivated.

Q: 7. how long are cables ? 13.5 ? 10 between mics ?? people should be one on the other NO ?

A: HelloHelloFrom the 1/8 plug you have 4'-0 to a molded stop on the cable , from the stop to the microphone each cable is 10'-0 . So I the perfect world you can separate the microphones 20' but you would only be 4' off the plain. I have a 10' headphone extension cable works great! Gives me 14' to the molded stop. CheersMike

Q: 8. I'd like to connect these to a xlr snake that goes to an audio mixer. What adapter would i need?

A: All you will need in order to connect it to your snake is a 3.5mm female to XLR male see one option in the link bellow https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/387850-REG/Rode_VXLR_VXLR_Mono_Mini_Jack.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

Q: 9. For staff - Can I use the dual lav with my Panasonic Lumix G7 directly? Can I use the dual lav with this adaptor ( a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/985832-REG/kopul_a_xmmf_adapter_xlr_male.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/985832-REG/kopul_a_xmmf_adapter_xlr_male.html/a ) to my Tascam DR-40? (there an issue going into one XLR on this recorded? Thanks so much!

A: The OLM-20 is directly compatible with the Lumix G7 and will record both mics discreetly to left and right sides. It can be used with the Kopul adapter as well, however will combine both sides to single mono signal when connected to the recorder.

Q: 10. does it work with panasonic hc 900?

A: There is no audio nor out on the camera. The only port is a micro USB. I don't believe it will do anything other than allow you to transfer images, and charge the battery.

Perfect Product! Our key sponsor TryptoNite absolutley loves this Lav Mic system. The cables are both very long which allows the two subjects being interviewed to be comfortably situated in front of the camera. Combining the microphones also eliminates another cable which makes our sound engineer very happy! Thank you B&H for keeping this option affordable which makes our work easier. - Daniel McCaughan

It works as it should where others did not. Specifically on Hasselblad 907x 50c. Apparently the jack configuration is right.

I didn't expect much out of this lavalier when I planned to use it for small projects that required short interviews and on set dialogue, but I came to find out that the audio quality really stood out for catching professional sounds if it's just put in the right place and distance. I'm now planning on bringing this little lav for longer interview sessions and film sets. The only two things I see holding this lav from being perfect is not being wireless or being able to tell how full the batteries are. Other than that, everything works swell as long as you clip it in the right place. Enrique Bartolo - Cinematographer

I have many years in the video business, so I have microphones of many brands and expensive, so it took me a lot to buy these microphones because I thought that because of the low price would be of very poor quality. But one day I decided to try them and I was very satisfied. They do not ask anything of a professional. Maybe the materials it's built on will not be for many years, but today it's just what I needed. I used lavalier microphones with good quality, but they would not hurt if they were stolen or forgotten in the work I'm doing. Highly recommend.

This is going to make all of my AV school projects a breeze!! I can’t thank the staff at B&H enough for all of the technical advice they gave me in finding what I needed. They put my needs before “the sale”. First class organization.

So far perfect for two interviewies at the same time. Plugs right in and picks up really good. Would buy another if needed.

I used them for a paid video shoot and was very happy with the results.  Crisp sound with no static.  Only complaint is that the foam covers fall off easily and are hard to find when they do.

It has solved all of my problems. Do not need anymore two sets of mic. I'm using it for interviews. It's working great with gopro and IPhone.

I had to record a presentation for a college class and figured putting my photography skills to work may improve my score. I ordered this microphone to make the audio as good as I possibly could, It is very easy to use and worked quite well. The audio was as good as I expected.
