Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this converter compatible with the FE 70-200 F4 Lens? Or is it limited to the F2.8 version?

A: Do Sony think that limiting this to the f2.8 will help the sales of that lens? surely all it will do is annoy people and limit the sales of the teleconverter, which could have been a winner with owners of other lenses! Lets hope its only a firmware update thats required and is quick to come. looking at the converter though I do wonder if the raised centre section will physically fit in the back of the FE 70-200 f4?

Q: 2. I just got the 1.4x. I'm using it with the A7R3 and the 100-400GM. Pictures seem noticeably washed out. Is this: 1) an error on my part, 2) defective product, or 3) inherent to the teleconverter?

A: I am using the same gear as you, and do not notice any image quality issues.I shoot mainly in manual mode, especially for short range shots. Bump up the ISO to get faster shutter speeds, and manual focus to better control depth of field. You might try shooting some pictures indoors using a tri-pod, with and without the teleconverter. That way, if something is defective, you can narrow it down to one item. Make sure you have a lot of light. Also, check to make sure you have the latest software updates for the camera and lens.

Q: 3. Will this be compatible with the new Sony 70-300 G lens?

A: The FE 1.4x Teleconverter will not be compatible with the new Sony FE 70-300mm lens.

Q: 4. can you use this with a6400 and 200-600 lens ?

A: If it is compatible with the lens, then should be compatible with any emount system.

Q: 5. is this converter compatible with aps-c cameras?

A: The Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter is compatible with any E-mount camera, including the APS-C size sensor cameras. Keep in mind that the teleconverter is only compatible with the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS lens at this time.

Q: 6. Is this converter compatible with the Sony 24-70 GMII Lens?

A: The Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter is not compatible with the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II Lens. There are currently no compatible teleconverters made for that lens.

Q: 7. Is this teleconverter compatible with the sony 24-240mm FE lens?

A: The FE 1.4x Teleconverter will not be compatible with the FE 24-240mm lens, no. At this time, the FE 1.4x Teleconverter is only compatible with the newly announced FE 70-200mm f/2.8. Unfortunately, there isnt a teleconverter currently on the market that is compatible with the FE 24-240mm lens.

Q: 8. Does it work with sigma 100-400?

A: yes, The following adapter will work with the 100-400mm lens

Q: 9. Is the 1.4x TC compatible with the new Tamron (Sony mount) 35-150mm lens?

A: Sony FE 1.4x Teleconverter is only compatible with a list of Sony proffesional telephoto lenses. Unfortunately Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD Lens (Sony E) is not design to work with teleconverters do to the designon the lens rear mount.

Q: 10. What is the part number for the front cover for the Sony FE 1.4x teleconverter SEL14TC?

A: I examined both covers and don't see a part #.

Was concerned about a reduction to sharpness in my photos. I rented one first to be sure I would be happy. Purchased the lens and it never leaves my camera. Just the reach I needed.

Amazing for birding with the 100-400 and the A7RV. Found that the focus grabs quickly, and tracks well.

I've been a pro sports shooter for many years. As soon as the FE70-200mm f/2.8GM came out, I was excited to learn that Sony would make a 1.4X teleconverter for it. This allows you to get almost to 100-300mm f/4. the coolest thing about the new FE1.4X is it's tiny and fast! I put it on the lens for the first time and couldn't tell it was even there. In Canikon, the older 1.4's were slightly slower than the prime lens, but not so with this little guy. I kept checking to make sure it was on the lens as it seemed totally the same speed of AF as without it. This is a very sharp TC that is super small and lightweight and will make a perfect match for the new GM zoom.

I have the Sony A1 and the 200-600 G lens. This TC works very well giving me the reach I want with good quality.

attached to my Sony GM 2.8 70-200. This converter is small & light. Adds very little length and hardly any weight. Compared shots of birds in yard feeder with and without converter. I see no difference in sharpness. A good amount of extra focal length with a loss of one stop.

Great optical quality, use it on my 70-200 f/4 Macro without losing too much f stop.

I am giving this 5 stars for being small, and working as well as I might hope on my Sony 100-400mm GM lens. Focus is slightly affected, as is image quality (mostly because it is 1 stop slower, as physics would dictate...), but these affects are expected. This is as good as tele-converters get.

It would be nice if it worked with other lenses, but that would have compromised the excellent performance.

when I use the teleconverter with the 60-600 sigma, the iris and auto focus, didn't work.

Using it on the 100-400GM lens on my Sony a7R2 I cannot see any image degradation. Check out the detail on the wing feathers shot at 540mm.
