A: According to Datavideo: The unit has a single 2 fan in the back, its rather quiet, but I do not have any comparative testing to back that up.In a recessed equipment rack you probably would not hear it however, it seems that the customer has a single room studio without a control room. A: The main idea with SE-1200 is to use an external audio mixer then connect it to the XLR inputs of SE-1200. If you would like to also mix a camera audio input with the other audio, then you could use a Datavideo audio de-embedder (DAC-90) which will extract the audio from the SDI then allow you to connect it to an external audio mixer. If you only need 4 inputs instead of 6, you may want to consider the SE-650. It does have a built in audio mixer which would allow you to control audio levels on an embedded audio signal from HDMI or SDI camera input. The price is lower and you don't need a control surface since it's built into the switcher.Craig
