I can tell you that I've owned the larger F-801 for over 20 years and it more than adequately handled 2 Nikon F3s w/ MD-4, 4 lenses, a Vivitar 283, a variety of filters and plenty of film.I still have the F-801. It is noticeably larger than the F-803, and it has weathered the past 20+ years wonderfully. BTW ... The two small compartments on the F-803 are very shallow, as are the two zippered compartments. I doubt that any of these 4 would be suitable to hold a 40mm lens.Hope this helps.
