Q: 1. Silly but serious question where exactly on the scanner do put this mask are there any sort of guide or something that fits the mask exactly where it needs to be? also I keep getting over lapping scans although my scanner (v550) has the correct film size setting.

A: I have a V600. It came with it's own film holders. I noted where the original film holders placed the film strip and made sure the Digitaliza put it in the same place. I used credit cards as spacers between the edge of the Digitaliza and the edge of the scanner window.

Q: 2. Compatible with 116 negatives?

A: Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that the Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask will work with the (now discontinued) 116 film format. The Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask is designed for use with 120 film, which is 60mm wide, whereas 116 film is 70mm wide. Due to the larger size of the 116 film, we cannot guarantee the Lomography DigitaLIZA 120 Scanning Mask will work with this film stock, and your results may vary.

Q: 3. Does this work well with an Epson 7100

A: No Epson XP-7100 is not compatible with this

Q: 5. What is the footprint of this unit, the length and width?

A: We guess that it is slightly smaller than its box which is 10.0 x 4.6 x 1.2".

Q: 6. Will it work on the epson v550 ?

A: I use both the 35mm and 120 DigitaLIZA with my V500 scanner. The 120 version would work sometimes depending on exactly where I placed it on the scanner bed. The 35mm version would not work at all. I traced the Epson scan guides on to paper and them I made overlays from corrugated plastic board the allows me to place the DigitaLIZA exactly where it is supposed to be, every time. Cardboard would work just as well as the plastic board, but I thought the plastic board would last longer. Also, if you notice the original Epson guides, there are little holes arrange in different patterns along the center top of the guide. I don't know if those holes are essential, but using the plastic board I was able to drill small holes that exactly lined up with the holes in the Epson guide. Using my plastic board templates, I have scanned in multiple rolls of 120 and 35mm film with no issues at all. The negatives are exactly lined up each and every time.

Q: 7. Would you know how this if fixed to the softbox? Would this fit on other brands? (I have bowens mount) Are there other brands offering similar Masks? Thank you!

A: This is attached via velcro.

Q: 8. will you actually be able to see the numbers of the frames or just a black board around?

A: It will hold a single 120 frame/negative or a strip of 3. The DigitaLIZA mask hold a very small edge of the (a millimeter or less) of the film, so in most cases you can see any Kodak numbering that was on the film, but all of the 120 photography I did in the 80s, the film showed no frame numbers. You will be able to scan the entire negative with the unexposed frame. The product work well and with a 8x10 flatbed scanner you can put 2 of these mask on the scanner at once, which means you can batch scan 6 frames at once, in manual mode. I hope this helps.

A: I dont know, I use it with the Epson V850 Pro.

Q: 10. Why do you need the backlight in the scanner since this adaptor looks like its opaque in the back?

A: These pieces are used while loading the film into the holder. The top and bottom are removed and the film is visible and able to be scanned with a backlight.
