Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the size of the post that connects to the sled? 1/2", 5/8", or 3/4"?

A: The Post size on the Areo models is as follows- 1/2" Basic Docking Bracket = Standard with AERO-15 1/2" Deluxe Docking Bracket = Standard with AERO-30

Q: 2. How do I use a camera that has only HDMI with this rig?

A: While the cable on the top that connects to the monitor is SDI, the monitor itself also has an HDMI input as well. You would just need to run a separate HDMI cable from the camera to the monitor in that case.

Q: 3. How tall is the Aero sled?

A: Sled height is adjustable from 22.5 to 35.5 inches. For more information please visit this link -a href= http://tiffen.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/STEADICAM-AERO-PRODUCT-SPECIFICATIONS.pdf target= _blank http://tiffen.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/STEADICAM-AERO-PRODUCT-SPECIFICATIONS.pdf/a

Q: 4. Can I use a Canon C300 Markii on this rig?

A: This supports up to 10 lb Payload. Just as long as you keep the build of your C300 Mark II to under 10 pounds, it will work.

Q: 5. Also, can this fly with bigger camera like FS5/FS7 or Canon c200 or Ursa mini? or should I go for Aero 30 system? but my own camera is A7S II, will be greta if anyone has experience can help, cheers

A: The Aero 15 arm/vest has a payload capacity of 15lbs including the sled/battery. This means that your camera payload should stay below 8-10lbs in most cases. if your camera payload exceeds this weight, you should look at the Aero 30 which has a weight capacity of 30lbs.

Q: 6. Does the AERO 15 come with all the cables needed to send a feed to the monitor?

A: Product lists coming with a BNC cable for connection between the post and monitor.

Q: 7. Will this rig support the Sony FX6???

A: Yes, the Steadicam AERO 15 Stabilizer System will support the Sony FX6 and 8lb of additional accesories.

Q: 8. What is the battery pack? Is that to power the camera or the steadicam itself?

A: The battery powers the Steadicam monitor. No power is required for the Steadicam, it works based upon proper balance and is gravity powered. The camera runs on its own battery.

Q: 9. Can I mount my DSLR on it? I really wonder about it!

A: The Aero 15 is perfect for a DSLR! That is exactly the size camera this was designed for.

Q: 10. What would be the approximate time frame for learning to use this very expensive tool to justify the expenditure?

A: Michael, it depends upon a number of factors including your current camera & Steadicam experience. Steadicam offers a number of workshops to get you up to speed:https://a href= http://tiffen.com/flysteadicam/ target= _blank tiffen.com/flysteadicam//aFor more information, I would suggest that you contact us directly at 800 593-3331 or steadicamsupport@tiffen.com

I create a homemade stabilizer. When I messed up the balance while film, I just stopped and left to home. With HD2000, I can just adjust the balance under 5 minutes and resume film. I bought a vest/arm system and created custom adapter that allows to connect between HD2000 and arm. The combine improved effect than hand-held! This product just is amazed. Most time, I film at inverse HD2000. Yes, it is required to practice to master stabilizer.

The Glidecam gives my projects great production value. My clients have been blown away with the shots I was able to obtain from the Glidecam.

I will be using this as a stabilizer for wedding videos. I was concerned how long it would take to balance the HD2000 after reading reviews online but had it very stable after about an hour. I've had it for about a month now and can balance it within minutes when putting on a new camera or lens. I'm currently using with my 60D but have put my 5DMIII as well. The only down side to using the 5D is the weight. It's about 1.5 lbs. heavier with my 5D (and the lens I use). That doesn't sound like a lot, but when you try to hold this thing for any length of time, it gets heavy fast! There is a learning curve with this piece of gear. Don't expect to take it out of the box, balance it and begin shooting perfectly balanced, smooth shots. Yes, your video will look great right off the bat, but you must practice a lot before your shots start looking brilliant. Having it only a month, I'm still learning on how to fly it but my shots have greatly improved. It is very sturdy, made incredibly well made and can take a pretty good beating. I would highly recommend getting a quick release for the baseplate. The Manfrotto 577 works very well for this. This is a wonderful piece of gear that I would recommend every video hobbyist/professional have!

A lot of camera ops I look up to rock the HD-2000, and I've been meaning to add it to my rig for a while now. I finally purchased it, and I'm stoked. I used it yesterday for the first time on a shoot. And it was awesome. Following people entering a building. Getting them talking, sitting down. Great stuff. I need a wider lens. Right now using my 24-105 all the way wide, but thinking about getting the Samyang 16 mm prime. Also, the quick release plate is essential for workflow.

Wow! What a huge difference this device makes. For a number of years I've debated getting one due to many saying it's hard to balance etc. I had no issues with mine at all. I ordered it on a Monday and in the three days it took to get to me, I watched many YouTube videos and read many websites on how to set it up and use it. That probably helped a lot. It took 1 hour to get it assembled and balanced for the first time. Each subsequent time has taken 1-2 minutes. Not bad at all. I practice with it for 15-20 minutes a time several days a week. Simply walking around the house and up small flights of stairs will get you use to it pretty quick. More advanced moves will of course take a lot more practice. 2 suggestions - (1) I got the light stand adapter because I knew my stands were too fat for the handle to fit onto for balancing purposes. That adapter is perfect. (2) I got a Manfrotto 577 QR system because all my gear uses the 501 plate. It really makes a big difference in moving the camera between gear. Having used this now for several weeks, I think I'm actually going to get another DSLR and make it my Glidecam only camera. For weddings, I don't want to be having to take the camera off etc. Right now I'm flying a Nikon D750 with either the 24-120 F4 or a Tokina 11-16 F2.8. I'll probably pick up a D7200 so I can keep the Tokina on it on the Glidecam. If you've been thinking about getting one, go for it! It's pretty low cost, even considering the new Ronin M. I personally like not having to worry about power and batteries on the Glidecam too. I've already got a bunch of equipment that requires batteries and chargers.

I use this for a 5D MkII and a few different shorter L lenses. It took about 2 hours to get it assembled and weighted correctly for the lens I had on. It took another hour when I switched lenses to get the weight correct. I think that once I've spent some time with it I'll have a pretty good idea of how to balance each of my lenses pretty quickly. Overall, it's easy to use. It definitely takes some practice! So don't think that you will get going right out of the box. There's a specific technique to it.The Manfrotto 577 is helpful like others said, but the knob that locks it in place takes some adjusting since it rests on the top plate.

Takes a while to learn- if you have a specific project in mind, make sure you order this two-three weeks out to have time to truly get the balance down- but once you have it, it works like a dream.

The HD2000 and H4000 are right in between for weight capacity. It's a bit annoying. I have been able to balance it and it took me a little bit of time and a bunch of youtube videos.I have a lot of work to do still, but otherwise I still love the ability to move on the fly.Still considering moving up to the HD4000 since it would hold a larger amount of weight. But even this thing gets tiring to hold.

I use this with a canon 5D MKiii and a 7 inch HDMI monitor, it is an amazingly light and compact rig and it's even better when pared with the X-10.

I have been using the product for freelance cinematography for about 2 months, and the saying that, You get what you pay for really comes to mind with the Glidecam. Although it is more expensive than other hand-held stabilizers on the market, it really feels like a solid product that will hold up over time. While it does have a fairly steep learning curve, it opens up a wide range of new shots. Balance can also be hard to achieve initially, but once it is dialed in it will hold steady.
