The mixer features a Hi-Z guitar input on channel four and each channel offers a 3-band EQ for custom tailoring your sound. Channels 1-4 offer XLR-1/4" combo jacks. Channels 5 through 12 provide mono XLR inputs, with channels 5-8 offering 1/4" inputs and 9-12 offering an additional set of stereo RCA inputs. Channels 11/12 also include an 3.5mm stereo mini-jack for connecting portable music players.

The EMX 5 includes a single-knob compressor on channels 1-4, an integrated feedback suppressor, and a built-in multi-effects processor with SPX series algorithms. Additionally, the mixer offers a Master EQ, which provides a single knob to control the level of low end. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a maximum recording time per song?

A: With a 128 GB SDHC/SDXC Memory card, you can activate all 20 channels for recording and record for 10 hours and 56 minutes. Recording on just one channel yields 80 hours, 13 minutes. (2 channels = 60 hours 10 minutes) This is at a 44.1 kHz, 24 Bit rate and bit depth. At 96 khz, 24 bit, 1 track will run for 36 hours, 51 minutes and 20 tracks will record for 5 hours, 1 minute. If you want to use 48 kHz, 24 bits,, 1 track is 73 hours, 42 minutes and 20 tracks is 10Hr. 3 min. Recording at 16 bits? Multiply these times by 1.5. This is the total time for as many songs as you have. If they each run 4 minutes, you can record a lot of songs before you have to empty the memory card. I've found my machine to be a solid performer! Very clear recordings!

Q: 2. Is it possible to hook up this mixer to my a/v receiver (Denon AVR-4308CI) which I already connect to speakers? and how? Thanks

A: Yes, the Yamaha MG10XU could be connected to an AV receiver. You could connect the stereo outputs of the MG10XU to one of the receiver's audio inputs with a 1/4" to RCA stereo cable such as BH #HOHPR003X2.

Q: 3. Does this unit USB connect to a PC (like Behringer XR18) and DAW recording with multiple recording software? IF not is the XR18 the only unit out there that does?

A: No, The USB connection are used for software updates, snapshots, play audio files and recording. I don't know of a unit at this price that will what the XR18 does with the USBs. There are others but they are more expense.

Q: 4. Is this mixer good for video live production to bring the audio to my switcher?

A: Yes, that would be a use for this mixer.

Q: 5. is the songs inbuilt ?

A: Songs are not built into this device. You would want to stream music from a mobile device and connect that to an hdmi tv input, or from a smart tv itself, and run the audio out of the tv to the karaoke receiver. Then you'd run the audio out of the receiver into the RCA or 1/8'' audio input of your speaker/ home receiver.

Q: 6. is the songs avialable inbuilt?

A: No song library included with this device, this is just a mixer and wireless system, Not a Karaoke player.

Q: 7. There is Fx in aux section ?

A: Yes. #5 on Page 23 in the manual shows how you can assign and send the internal effects on the Yamaha MG20XU to your aux. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/622736.pdf

Q: 8. Do all tracks bypass onboard effects when recording 20 separate tracks to a SD card for import into a DAW for post production? I want to mix live with effects to FOH and monitors, but record all tracks without any effects for later import and mixing.

A: All individual tracks will be recorded without any effects applied. If recording on the Master track, all effects will be heard on the recording to the Master track, but not on the individual tracks. The individual tracks can be set to record pre or post compressor in the Menu of the L-20.

Q: 9. Can you bypass all of the onboard effects and record straight from the pres to the SD card?

A: Yes you can bypass effects also record to sd card all of your recordings save to SD card

Q: 10. Are the 1/4 inputs on channels one through four balanced TRS?

A: Channels 1-4 on the mixer are XLR and XLR can be balanced or unbalanced. Depends entirely on how you choose to output the mic channels.
