Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the exact weight of the tripod - just over 1 lb isn't very accurate. Also, what is the weight of the VH-R2 monopod head?

A: The Velbon CTM-2400 4-Section Carbon Fiber Monopod weighs 12.8 oz (0.38 kg). The VH-R2 Swivel/Tilt Monopod Head weighs 10.2 oz (.29 kg). So, together the CTM-2400 4-Section Carbon Fiber Monopod w/ VH-R2 Swivel/Tilt Monopod Head Kit weighs 23 oz (0.67 kg).

Q: 2. The second pic, how does the monopod single leg extend from the 3 leg base? It's manually attached or?

A: Please look at the rubber twist lock. Turn that and a leg extends from inside the mini tripod ring.

Q: 3. what country is this item manufactured in?

A: It is made in China.

Q: 4. How much is its maximum capacity?

A: Per Tiltall's US representative, 18 pounds

Q: 5. I am going on an Alaskan cruise through the Interior Passage. Four ports. Helicoper ride/dog sled run. Canon 5d Mark IV. Heaviest lens 24-105. Do you think this will work as a general lightweight all-around? Senior lady who wants an easy way to take photos without shaking using different lens. Thank you!

A: One of the great advantages of today's digital cameras is the very high ISO ratings they have. With these high ISO's, you can shoot at a commensurate high shutter speed. Shooting at 1000, 2000, 3000 shutter speed should negate mild and even moderate shake. Of course, if you have a muscular condition that creates more than a moderate shake, then yes, I think this is a good suggestion. It is light, compact even with the three little legs. It will be good even on board ship. Of course, you will not need it for the helicopter or dog sled. I would also recommend a monopod head. This will allow tilt up and down while the monopod is up and down with the legs deployed. Here is a affordable one: Oben VH-R2 Tilt Head for Monopods B&H # OBVHR2. Here is a mid level quality example: Induro TH2 Tilt Head for Monopods B&H # INTH2. Both of these heads have Arca-Swiss type quick releases. That is to say, the included quick release is a desirable industry standard which allows instant on and off the head. Have fun and don't take any wooden pictures.

Q: 6. Can anyone measure the diameter of the smallest leg section ? Thanks

A: The diameter of the rod at the last (smallest section) is 3/4 inch. The rubber foot on the end of that rod is 7/8 inch in diameter.

Q: 7. Can I attach a fluids base?

A: If you have a tripod fluid head that has a flat base with either 1/4-20 or 3/8″-16 female threads on bottom the base, then yes, the fluid head may be used with the Tiltall Tripod BM-868 4-Section Carbon Fiber Monopod.

Q: 8. Does this monopod work with Benro 3-Leg Locking Base For Monopods B&H # BEVT2 MFR # VT2? Thanks.

A: I have to agree with David F.'s response -- the Oben CTM-2500 doesn't have an available female threaded base to accept the 3-lag locking base. I suspect any threaded receptacle the monopod has is occupied by the extendable spike, which doesn't seem to be removable.

Q: 9. diameter?

A: Large shaft: 1.21875 Foam Rubber Grip on large shaft: 1.50 Camera Mount Plate: 2.375 Smallest shaft: .75

Q: 10. What is the diameter of each leg section on the Oben 2400 monopod?

A: The diameter of each leg section of the Oben CTM-2400 4-Section Carbon Fiber Monopod with VH-A30 Tilt Monopod Head Kit, from largest to smallest, is 28mm, 25mm, 22mm, and 19mm.

Originally bought a Manfrotto 290 monopod that the bottom section was bent just enough to cause it to bind. Straightened it a bit but returned it. The bottom section was simply too fragile. This Oben carbon fiber monopod was a bit more and well worth it! It is light and the bottom section on it will NOT bend! The design allowed me to remove the tripod head and strap monting my monopod head diectly to the 3/8 mounting bolt and much prefer the twist locks to the flip lock on a monopod. Thanks B&H for the quick shipping!

I was attracted to the monopod by its weight and carrying capacity. In use I find many things to like, It's weight (as I mentioned), a nice diameter grip, it goes higher and remains steadier than the other monopod I own, It also doubles as a hiking stick. I have mounted a small ball head which accepts a quick release plate. I have the plates mounted on my cameras.

This monopod is compact when collapsed and sturdy when extended. The twist lock mechanism is quick and convenient.

This monopod is everything a monopod should be, strong, light, short when compressed and long when extended. Twist locks give less trouble than flippers. I also have the lighter 2400 and at 5' 11 tall I need to hunch when standing with that. Not with this 2500 and it collapses shorter.

I use this item to take photos at sporting events and nature photos. I use a D810 with a 400mm lense with this mono pod. It is very light weight, compact, and easy to use. It was a big difference going from an aluminum mono pod to a carbon fiber model.

Light weight of monopod and tilt head works really well for Sony short- and medium weight lenses. Tilt head is a wonderful concept. For a heavier 600mm lens w camera (9#), the additional stability of a Induro M505XLTH4 series works better for me.

When I first unboxed and extended the monopod, the twist lock came fully loose and one section fell apart. this was easily fixed and was put into full use. I primarily used it as a portable light stand with speedlights. also with my 300mm f/2.8 when stability is needed, supported weight very well.

THIS IS AN OUTSTANDING LIGHTWEIGHT MONOPOD WITH A VERY USER FRIENDLY COLLAPSING CIRCULAR RING MECHANISM WHICH IS SUPERIOR TO SNAP LOCKS WITH PROTRUSIONS TO CATCH ON ITEMS. IT IS VERY STURDY, HIGH QUALITY CONSTRUCTION AND ATTRACTIVE DESIGN WITH A COLD WEATHER DENSE FOAM GRIP UNDER THE CAMERA DECK.
