Capable of holding any equipment weighing up to 66.1 lb, the BH-30 Ball Head from Tiltall Tripod is well-suited for use with professional DSLR and mirrorless cameras. It comes with a quick release plate for fast operation, which attaches to your gear via a standard 1/4"-20 screw and locks onto the clamp by turning a knob on the side.

With a height of 4.3" and weight of 23.3 oz, this tripod head offers full 360° panning and a notch on the base for 90° tilting in one direction. A single locking knob is used to adjust tension and position and features friction control for making precise changes to your composition. Two bubble levels are offered, a rectangular one on the side of the base plate and a bull's-eye model built into the clamp knob. Additionally, graduated markings on the base of the ball head allow you to view your panning angle as you adjust it for more critical work such as panoramas or video recording.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will a Wiimberley 500PF foot fit/work with this bullhead?

A: Yes the Wimberley AP-500 Quick Release Replacement Foot for Nikon AF-S 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR should fit on the Really Right Stuff BH-30 Ball Head with Compact Lever-Release Clamp.

Q: 2. Is this ball head ok w/o friction control?

A: Yes, it actually works quite well without friction.

Q: 3. what does it weigh?

A: This head weighs about 1 lb.

Q: 4. Mainly taking it for backpacking. Does it support d850 and 14-24/70-200 lens along with RRS 1 series tripod.

A: Yes, it will work fine with your gear. Good little ball head with good load capacity.

Q: 5. Is thee BH-30 made in the USA?

A: Yes, the Matthews BH-30 is made in the United States.

Q: 6. does it come with the old Really Right Stuff logo or the newer modern looking one?

A: I don't know which is new vs. old. Its different from the picture shown.

Q: 7. Can I use my Arca-Style Fusion Plate with this head?

A: Yes, this head accepts Arca-type plates.

Q: 8. besides price, why would you want a compact lever-release vs a full size lever?

A: Good question, they really don't make it very clear. According to the RRS website, the compact edition comes with the B2-40 LR lever release style quick release clamp while the full-size edition comes with the B2-AS II 60mm lever style quick release clamp . If you check the RRS website for those parts individually, you can see the differences. The full-size clamp has jaws that are about 0.5 longer than the compact clamp. The weights are also slightly different. There's a thread on DPReview (id 2510302) that suggests the difference doesn't matter if you're just going to use an L-plate. In that case, you can probably go for the compact version.I'm not fully confident though, so take this with a grain of salt.

Q: 9. I just bought 1 and received it today, I absolutely love it. My question is that I find the lever clamp stiff and hard to close after I install a plate, I put such much force that I have to hold the entire unit firmly or tighten the pan dial till it stops turning, is that normal?

A: Yes, you are correct, basically all arca compatible plates vary in width by mm's, just enough to cause an issue. RRS plates or brackets are best to be used in RRS heads or ones that specifically say compatible with RRS.

Q: 10. are other shoes available for this head? More specifically I need an extended shoe with 1 or ideally 2, 3/8 screws, not 1/4 20.

A: yes,you can get other plates that will fit the BH30,in my case i just replaced the hole top plate with RRS quick release system.this is a vary good ballhead fot the price.

Using this ball head with a Sony A7r ii and 90mm macro and it fits well together with lots of room for additional weight. At this time the ball head is mounted on a Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 and although the base of the BH-30 is quite a bit smaller than the base plate of the tripod, it all works well together. It's really a pleasure to use the BH-30 - it exudes quality and workmanship.
