    Related Questions and Answers

    Q: 1. Is it sharp?

A: As long as the lens is focused properly on your subject, yes, the Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens for Canon EF, B&H # VE2414C, would be sharp. This is a macro lens, so do note that the lens may have shallow depth of field when used close to your subject, but as it is a manual focus lens, if you focus properly on your subject, the subject should be in sharp focus.

Q: 2. can I submerged in a cocktail made with high proof alcohol?

A: Yes you would be able to submerge this into a cocktail made with high proof alcohol. The front part of this lens is waterproof and would hold up to being submerged while shooting and recording.

Q: 3. Can the Waterproof Front Lens Barrel be submerged in salt water? If yes what are the cleaning recommendations after salt water exposure?

A: Yes, rinse of with fresh water and dry promptly.

Q: 4. Will there be any plans for micro four third mount on the Panasonic GH5 or GH6 cams? I do not like adaptors as it'll degrade the optical path.

A: Unfortunately I have not heard that Venus will be releasing a micro four thirds mount version of this lens any time soon.

    Q: 5. I have a Canon Rebel T7I. which has a APS-C Size ccd. I asssume this will make the lens 38mm?

A: Yes, that is correct. As the Canon EOS Digital Rebel T7i DSLR camera has a 1.6x APS-C cropped sensor, when comparing your lens' equivalent angle of view to that of a lens used on a full-frame sensor camera, all lenses must have their focal length multiplied by 1.6x to find the full frame equivalent. As such, as the Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens has a 24mm focal length, it would be the equivalent of a 38.4mm lens (as 24mm x 1.6 = 38mm).

Q: 6. Where is the lens made?

A: This lens's country of origin is China.

Q: 7. Is the aperture automatic? In other words, does it focus wide open and close down to the preset f stop during exposure?

A: The aperture is entirely manual. The camera cannot control it at all.

    Q: 8. Is This lens compatible with a Sony A7Riii ?

A: Yes, this lens is compatible with the Sony A7R III.

Q: 9. I see other mount options of this lens with the cine-mod option. Is there a version of the Nikon F-mount available with cine-mod?

    A: so far not available

Q: 10. Hi, would i be able to adapt this lens to a BMPCC4K (black magic pocket4k) Word and adapter?

A: Yes, one can adapt the Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens for Canon EF to a Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K using a few different adapters such as: https://bhpho.to/2KTNKQT or https://bhpho.to/2bMLA0u .
