Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. How can you plug it into IPhone ? Does it need an adapter or directly ?
A: You can connect the Rode VideoMic GO II Ultracompact Analog/USB Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone to an iPhone by using the Rode SC15 Lightning USB Type-C to Lightning Accessory Cable (B&H # ROSC15). The SC15 cable will allow you to connect the mic directly to the iPhone and then use the mic's 3.5mm jack for headphones to monitor the audio while recording.
Q: 2. Does this fit the standard videomic (not pro) with rycote lyre suspension?
A: This windscreen will not fit the Rode VideoMic. The appropriate item is the Rode Dead Cat Wind Muff for VideoMic, NTG1 and NTG2 Microphones, B&H # RODC.
Q: 3. Does this give a right and left channel with different audio levels?
A: No, the Rode VideoMic GO II Ultracompact Analog/USB Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone is a mono microphone and does not provide any differentiation between the left and right channels of its TRS output connection.
Q: 4. will Blimp work with Rode NTG1?
A: I wouldnt advise this for the NTG1. This is designed fro the MKH60 which has a larger diameter and is longer. Here are two good options for the NTG1 Rode Blimp System (Item# ROBLIMPR) Rycote Super Shield (Item# RYSSKM) Both of the above options are also far less expensive than the Sennheiser as with the Sennheiser you will still need to add the Grip and the wind muff in order to use this.
Q: 5. Will this work with Rode VideoMic Pro Plus?
A: No.According to Rode's website this is designed to work with the Rode VideoMic Pro. Not the Pro + (or Plus) unit. The Rode website does not have a Rode compatible deadcat for the Pro Plus unit.
Q: 6. Is the Fur Windshield in the Windshield kit the WS12 by Rode or just "a" fur windshield? The image indicates it is, but the part number is not mentioned nor that is made by Rode.
A: The fur windshield that is included with the Rode VideoMic GO II Shotgun Microphone is the Rode WS12 Deluxe Windshield for VideoMic GO II (B&H # ROWS12). The information for the windshield is listed in the last paragraph of the description and with the details for the included items listed under "In the Box" on the right side of the page, next to the description.
Q: 7. Can i use an iphone charger (lightning to USB C) to connect to an iPhone or does it require cable from rode?
A: The Rode SC15 Lightning USB Type-C to Lightning Accessory Cable (BH #ROSC15) is the recommended cable solution for connecting the Rode VideoMic GO II Ultracompact Analog/USB Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone to an iOS device with Lightning connectivity: https://bhpho.to/3sSRVBr
Q: 8. will this mic work connected to my fx3 audio handle?
A: You would need to use a battery powered mic like the Rode VideoMic NTG if you want to go directly into the 1/8'' mic input on the Sony FX3. The Sony FX3 does not have mic plugin power. To be able to use the Rode Videomic Go, you would need the compatible FX3 XLR module along with the Rode VXLR+ adapter.
Q: 9. Will this work with the OG BMPCC6k?
A: The RODE VideoMic GO II is compatible with any camera that has a 3.5mm microphone input.
Q: 10. Would using a usb-c to 3.5mm input adapter allow headphones to be plugged in to the mic directly when using it on a camera?
A: No, unfortunately not. The USB-C output on the Rode VideoMic GO II is a digital output only and it does not have any sort of preamp built-in to accommodate a headphone signal.
