The black Point Source Audio EO-8WL EMBRACE Omnidirectional Earmount Lavalier Microphone is an ear-mounted microphone that provides pristine sound quality with a secure and comfortable fit. It is ideal for capturing vocal performances in theater, broadcast, film, corporate, and other applications where the performer's microphone needs to be concealed.

This omnidirectional microphone delivers 136 dB maximum SPL with a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and high-gain before feedback, making it well suited for use in low- to moderate-noise environments. It is mounted on a flexible boom which bends up to 360° and allows the miniaturized capsule to maintain consistent placement at the corner of the mouth for an even sound quality, regardless of head movement.

The EO-8WL boasts an IP57 waterproof rating and is protected against water, sweat, and makeup. For a precise custom fit, you can bend, shape, and trim the included earmounts, and choose between left- or right-ear placement.

This headset comes with an XMP interchangeable 4-pin mini XLR locking-ring X-Connector for Mipro wireless transmitters. A windscreen, two clothing clips, and a cable clip are also included.

Q: 1. What kind of replacement lavs can I buy for this unit?

A: I have used the Rode smart lav on this unit and it works ok, but it doesn't have the locking threads so it popped out as I sat in my chair and I missed a take. Also the sound was different so we went back to the Tuscam Lav. My guess is any lav with the 1/8 male plug will work. Why would you want a different lav?

Q: 2. I hear tons of environmental noise in my recordings. I can hear people's conversations that is more than 10feet away. The lav was underneath my shirt close to my throat. Anyway to lessen the environmental noise? Thank you!

A: Sadly you may have to buy a better lav. I use a Sennheiser MKE2 with this unit and I'm getting excellent results. Keep in mind that almost all lavs are omnidirectional so they will pick up more than just your voice. However you can buy unidirectional lavs as well which may be the answer to your issue. You will just have to make sure the lav is always pointed towards your mouth. Sennheiser, Countryman, DPA and Lectrosonics all make great lavs that should work for you.

Q: 5. Im seeing a few reviews about this thing recording a layer of static throughout? Has anyone figured out what causes this? Its the only thing making me worried about purchasing it?

A: Hi there! Ive been using this for professional projects for a while now and have had no issues with it and no static. As a matter of fact its been roughed up a bit sometimes on shoots and it really holds up

Q: 8. Maybe this is a dumb question, but besides using the headphone jack how can I get a read on the levels to a mixer?

A: If you want to get the resulting audio recorded on the DL-01 into a mixer, you have two choices (1) you can move the resulting recording (the .WAV file) into another playback device which is connected to a mixer (probably the normal case ); or (2) play out the recorded file directly from the DL-10. I have had cases when in the field where time was of the essence where I have had to use #2. It happens enough that I have standard cables in my go-bag for this purpose (3.5mm L+R stereo male to 2x XLR male for L+R -- also carry another cable with 3.5mmRCA connectors) to use the headphones jack on the DL-01 for output. And, yes, the DL-01 recording is 1-channel mono. In the field, when I have had to feed a just-recorded file to a mixer, it works great.

Q: 9. Where can I get just the mic clip? I have a few of these DR-10L's and they are used a lot, but the mic clips are starting to wear out

A: Auray Tie Clip for Pearstone OLM2, Senal OLM2, Sennheiser ME2 and Sony UWP-V Lavalier Mics (Pack of 5) B&H # AUTCOLM25

Q: 10. Is the microphone available to be purchased anywhere seperately
