The beige CR-8S Cardioid Earworn Microphone from Point Source Audio is designed for high noise applications where more than one microphone is required such as for live performances and recordings. The cardioid pattern of the microphone will pick up sound from one direction, so it can be focused on the sounds of the person wearing the microphone. The unit features a 4mm diameter microphone element that can be positioned at the corner of the mouth to maintain an unobtrusive appearance.

The microphone features an unbreakable boom that can bend up to 360° and a flexible earhook that can be worn on either the left or the right ear. Alternatively you can utilize a dual-earset microphone clip to convert the earworn microphone so it can be worn on both ears for more support. The unit offers optimal gain amplification before feedback and can handle sounds with a maximum SPL of 135 dB. The microphone can connect to a wide range of wireless microphone transmitters using its interchangeable X-Connector system. This particular unit comes with an interchangeable 5-pin mini connector for Lectrosonics transmitters. The microphone also comes with a foam windscreen, a body clip, and a storage box.

Q: 1. what is the weight of the zoom with case?

A: The Zoom H6 Portable Handy Recorder and included X/Y Microphone weigh 14.5 oz and the Gator Waterproof Injection-Molded Case weighs 3.5 lbs. The total weight for both items is 4.4 lbs.

Q: 2. Can Zoom H5/H6 monitor both {mic inputs + Windows 10} simultaneously? I'd like to use XLR mics in my remote (virtual) presentations/meetings. I want to hear both myself (from the mic) and other attendees (system sound from Windows). In USB/interface mode, does the H5/H6 monitor jack simultaneously output (mix?) both my mic and Windows system sounds? Is that standard "interface" behavior? Do the H5 and H6 behave the same in this regard? (P.S. I wish to avoid "looping" or "overdubbing" or 3rd party mixers.) Thank you all kindly in advance.

A: Yes, but most video meeting software do not give you an option to monitor your own microphone signal.

Q: 3. Can it record internally and output audio to a PC through the USB output?

A: Yes. Just to make sure I'm understanding the question correctly: I almost daily use this device to record professional voiceovers, using both the attached condenser mic and xlr attached sennheiser, while running it feed out directly via USB to my Mac and capture using Abobe Audition in real time. It even runs on phantom power via the USB without you having to prompt it to so you don't kill the batteries as fast as when using it standalone. [Not sure how well phantom power to external mics work and if the USB will cover those, I only have self-powered external mics]. I remember to write almost no user reviews or answer questions but in this case I had to because I cannot recommend this device enough. For under 500 the H6 captures network quality sound both ambient and input and at a price point that you're willing to use it for every type of field grunt work.

Q: 4. What is the frequency response range for the included xy mic? It's not in the specs & it's not even on the zoom h6 website. thx

A: The manufacturer has not provided frequency response ratings for any of the Zoom mic capsules, but I would estimate it to be 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

Q: 5. Is it possible to plug multiple lavalier mics ?

A: Yes, you can plug in up to 4 mics (lav or otherwise) as long as they connect through XLR or in.

Q: 6. Would this be an appropriate audio interface to hook up 2 XLR mics for recording instrument/piano to a dSLR/mirrorless camera via TRS 3.5 mm minijack? If so, with its own XY mic, can it be used as a 3 mic input? Knowing camera TRS mic input is only 2 channel stereo, would a 3rd mic be useless then? Sorry for the novice question.

A: This is a 6 channel recorder, Four XLR inputs plus the onboard stereo mic. You can connect the output to your camera and record the entire stereo mix to the camera, although you should still use the audio from the Zoom in your final cut.

Q: 7. Why does the black one cost more if it comes with less capsules than the original, are there any other differences?

A: The rubberized black body of the recorder is it's main difference. This allows for a more rugged build and functions better in harsh environments.

Q: 8. I want to transfer 4 discrete tracks from my Tascam 3340s without mixing into stereo. Will the H6 record four tracks simultaneously? I know many other recorders can only record two tracks, then another two.

A: Hi, Ed S. The ZOOM H6 can record 4 audio tracks simultaneously. Just run each of your 4 tracks separately out of your 3340s and separately into each track of the ZOOM H6. Don't forget to read the owners manual to set the quality of your new recording. The ZOOM H6 is an excellent product that will actually allow you to record 6 separate channels simultaneously (with an additional module). I hope my answer helps you. Thanks.

Q: 9. Can each channel be panned L/R via menus? If so, will all L and all R be mixed into the "backup stereo mix"?

A: The Zoom H6 Recorder does offer panning controls via the program mixer, which will apply to the stereo mixdown and monitor mix.

Q: 10. Does the maximum allowable input level of +22 dBu (PAD ON) for inputs 1-4 apply to TRS only, or XLR as well? In other words, can the XLR inputs handle line level?

A: The Zoom H6 does take line level signal. You can apply the pad to XLR or 1/4'' signal coming in.

The new Zoom H6 is just about the coolest hand held I've ever owned and used. I have used several older recording models by Zoom. I've also used bulkier field recording devices by competing companies. The H6 is so easy to use. I love the new color digital screen. It makes checking input levels a snap. The interchangeable XY mic and MS mic are both really solid mics and both result in very high quality audio. I especially like the 4 inputs being placed on the sides of the device vs. older models having these on the bottom. This allows for easier hand holding when extra inputs are in use as well as when feeding long XLR cables from various points in a room to either side of the device while having it centered in the room. Also a huge plus is that there is now a headphones-in and a line-in vs. older models only having one that had to be used either or. The menu is very user friendly and intuitive. This device will practically record by itself with the auto record feature. Probably my favorite feature is the built in tuner and metronome. How intuitive to include that when all musicians need that on hand anyway! Every musician should have one of these. It does so much and is quite easy to use. It comes with a wonderful little case that has all the parts nice an snug in padded foam. Wish the additional attachment shotgun mic and extra 2 inputs didn't cost extra money, but at least it came with both the XY and the MS. Excellent product!

I just bought this to do on location sound for DSLR video. It's great to use the onboard mics or the additional shotgun mic I bought. I love having access to the gain levels right there on the face. Interface seems easier than the h4n that I had rented before.

I used the H4N for awhile, and like many people, it helped give me great audio for video. When the H6 was announced, I was thrilled. There are so many useful things that were added to this unit, but I'll only touch on a few. First off, the no brainer that is so much easier to use is having your Pre Amp Gain control as a hardware piece on the front next to each input. No more going through menus to change your settings. This is great. Being able to adjust in real time as you're seeing your levels is a necessity. The pre amps are also greatly improved. They sound cleaner, warmer, and much less noise than before. I was glad to see they addressed this issue as well. The tilted LCD display is very nice. Easy to see the LCD when it's mounted on top of a camera, or even when it's just on the table. Nice colorful LED. It comes with a real nice case as well. It's not a pelican case, but it's definitely nice having a hard case to carry around your gear in. Makes life much easier. Thanks Zoom.

I mostly shoot weddings. The Zoom H6 allows me to use all my Rode microphones, all six of them! I was planning on buying 3 H4n, but this beast dies the job winderfully.
