The brown CR-8S Cardioid Earworn Microphone from Point Source Audio is designed for high noise applications where more than one microphone is required such as for live performances and recordings. The cardioid pattern of the microphone will pick up sound from one direction, so it can be focused on the sounds of the person wearing the microphone. The unit features a 4mm diameter microphone element that can be positioned at the corner of the mouth to maintain an unobtrusive appearance.

The microphone features an unbreakable boom that can bend up to 360° and a flexible earhook that can be worn on either the left or the right ear. Alternatively you can utilize a dual-earset microphone clip to convert the earworn microphone so it can be worn on both ears for more support. The unit offers optimal gain amplification before feedback and can handle sounds with a maximum SPL of 135 dB. The microphone can connect to a wide range of wireless microphone transmitters using its interchangeable X-Connector system. This particular unit comes with an interchangeable 5-pin mini connector for Lectrosonics transmitters. The microphone also comes with a foam windscreen, a body clip, and a storage box.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why does the black one cost more if it comes with less capsules than the original, are there any other differences?

A: The rubberized black body of the recorder is it's main difference. This allows for a more rugged build and functions better in harsh environments.

Q: 2. Is one able to receive a L+R from FOH and then still use the attached shotgun mic. Enabling the user to have a direct mix and then still have some room noise to mix in and out?

A: Yes. There are six channels, with two coming from the end-mount element. There are four XLR inputs, with dedicated channels and level controls. Any combination can be recording.

Q: 3. Can Zoom H5/H6 monitor both {mic inputs + Windows 10} simultaneously? I'd like to use XLR mics in my remote (virtual) presentations/meetings. I want to hear both myself (from the mic) and other attendees (system sound from Windows). In USB/interface mode, does the H5/H6 monitor jack simultaneously output (mix?) both my mic and Windows system sounds? Is that standard "interface" behavior? Do the H5 and H6 behave the same in this regard? (P.S. I wish to avoid "looping" or "overdubbing" or 3rd party mixers.) Thank you all kindly in advance.

A: Yes, but most video meeting software do not give you an option to monitor your own microphone signal.

Q: 4. What is the signal to noise ratio on the Zoom H6?

A: Zoom has elected not to publish this specification. There are no documents available to support this spec. Please feel free to contact Zoom directly:Tel: (631) - 542-5270Email: info@a href= http://zoom-na.com target= _blank zoom-na.com/aWebsite: a href= http://www.zoom-na.com target= _blank http://www.zoom-na.com/a

Q: 5. Does the H6 black have the same timecode feature as the H5? To output audio to the camera via line out 6400line in (ie Sony a6400) ? As well as sync with cameras timecode for post production purposes? I believe the H5 has this option? Where could I read up on this? I’m just getting into all of this. Hoping the post production process will be fairly straight forward.

A: The H6 and H5 have the same time code basically you would connect a Attenuator cable from the output of the recorder into your camera and it sends a secondary to your camera then you sync the audio with video in post,

Q: 6. can I use this with a usb mic?

A: No, the Zoom H6 All Black 6-Input / 6-Track Portable Handy Recorder with Single Mic Capsule will not support a connection from a USB microphone. In general, USB microphones are limited to direct connection to a computer.

Q: 7. Does the zoom h6 have zero latency monitoring through the headphone jack?

A: The Zoom H6 does offer latency free monitoring in both standalone and USB interface modes.

Q: 8. I am not sure if I got a defective Zoom h6. My device has this faint hissing noise even without any microphone plug in. if I set my gain to 6 and above and bump headphone volume to about 60 I can hear noises and I can also hear this noise in the record as well. Can someone confirm this with your device? - Thanks

A: Yeah this happens with mine as well. I haven't heard it too much in my recordings though. But if it makes you feel any better, I have noise when the gain is set to 6 or above too, even without a microphone plugged in.

Q: 9. Would this be an appropriate audio interface to hook up 2 XLR mics for recording instrument/piano to a dSLR/mirrorless camera via TRS 3.5 mm minijack? If so, with its own XY mic, can it be used as a 3 mic input? Knowing camera TRS mic input is only 2 channel stereo, would a 3rd mic be useless then? Sorry for the novice question.

A: This is a 6 channel recorder, Four XLR inputs plus the onboard stereo mic. You can connect the output to your camera and record the entire stereo mix to the camera, although you should still use the audio from the Zoom in your final cut.

Q: 10. What is the frequency response range for the included xy mic? It's not in the specs & it's not even on the zoom h6 website. thx

A: The manufacturer has not provided frequency response ratings for any of the Zoom mic capsules, but I would estimate it to be 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

The H6 is a truly versatile and competent audio recording tool. Using the XLR plug in module I can easily mic 6 people simultaneouly or mic one or two while recording ambient sound at the same time. The pre-amps are very good as is the sound quality. It is easy to use with a good, large video display. This great little field/studio recorder will be part of my film and video kit for a long time to come. I haven't found any downside to this device and would certainly recommend it to anyone needing a small, lightweight recording device.

Solid construction. Menu and usability way better than the old H4N. Would recommend, highly over the H4N.

I liked the H4, I love the H6. This is probably closer to what audiophiles will be excited about in a portable device with professional capabilities. Main improvements upon first test: -4 track standard input -dials to set record levels -improved signal to noise ratio -accessory shoe (comes with MS/XY mic which record to 5th stereo track you can also purchase a shotgun mic or an adapter to add 2 more inputs, though not sure if it adds 2 more separate tracks) Unless you are recording with the mic on a stand I would be very cautious of how you use the mic attachments. They WILL RECORD ALL of your HANDLING NOISE unless you are a ninja. Then go for it, OUT OF THE BOX this is a 4 track recording device which you can add a 5th track with a stereo mic attachment. It comes with a case which is great and two attachments (XY and MS mic's) which is nice, but one major con is that you have to purchase an AC adapter separately. I still need to test this with 4 different mics plugged in (particularly 4 lavs) before I can say 100% I am certain you will love this, but I am pretty confident in the product after one out of the box test. I believe this will be my solution for quality field recording and essentially beginner home studio recording. I am wary of the extra two track attachment for both durability and sound quality. I tested the XY and MS mic and determined that they will be best for me to record the entire room or get an interview in a real pinch, but even so it will need some work in post because the record quality is not as good as what you will get from even a basic boom mic.

After being a heavy user of its old sibling, the Zoom H4n, the Zoom H6 is a welcome upgrade and refresh to an old favorite. While the H4n fell short with poor battery life, a clunky interface, minimal inputs, and a somewhat limiting way to incrementally adjust levels on the fly, the Zoom H6 remedies all the issues it's older brother had and packages it up in a beautifully designed product. The Zoom H6 packs a whopping 5 inputs (yes, 5) into a tiny, hand held package which gives you a plethora of recording options if you're the type of recordist who likes to record with every mic in your kit. 4 of those inputs are XLRs, while the 5th is a modular input that can swapped out depending the attachment you choose (Zoom provides multiple types. Omnidirection, shotgun, and directional to name a few). Additionally, if 4 inputs isn't enough, there is a modular attachment that can give you another two inputs. What are you going to do with 6 inputs? The sky is the limit. The interface is much improved with a color screen, levels that are easy to read, and dials (instead of buttons) that allow unlimited incremental control of your audio levels. The H4n had buttons which were not desirable for changing levels whilst recording. Also, the battery life is much better. Not amazing, but way better than the H4n which seemed to eat AAs. Bottom line, your grandmother could record audio with this recorder. It's slick, incredibly functional, and real nice to look at. I can't recommend it enough. Forget your SoundDevices, your 722s and 744s, save yourself some bucks, and roll onto set confident that you can do everything you need to and more with the Zoom H6. Bravo!

Easy to handle and navigate menus. Readouts are easy to see. Sound quality is great, but pairing with a field mixer is necessary to get great sound. Goes well with a 302 mixer. I could want better placement of the headphone/usb jacks for easier kit storage, but it works fine.

Much better product than the Zoom H4n! Wish it would have came with a better case though for the price.

I bought this recorder to use with my 5D and must say that I've been extremely satisfied. It's incredibly easy to use and the audio quality is superb. And the fact that you can record up to 6 channels..? Like Kenny 'the Jet' Smith always say 'it's over'.

If you are looking for independence, and work everytime more alone as a writer for making films, this is really great, noble, easy to use. It's sounds just great. And it becomes a sound brain also for postproduction sketches and in some cases for sure to finish some kind of work. Of course is not the same as having an artist/technitian, but if you want to work alone is a great tool not to sacrifice quality.
