The brown Point Source Audio Series8 CO-8WL Omnidirectional Waterproof Lavalier Microphone (Lectrosonics) is a miniature mic designed to deliver a natural vocal sound for recording and live sound reinforcement applications such as concerts, musical theater, interviews, public speaking, and more. Featuring an unobtrusive mic element only 4mm in diameter, it can easily fit behind a button of the performer's clothing or be hidden in a hairline.

The Series8 CO-8WL's omnidirectional polar pattern allows for a variety of mic placement options as it picks up the voice from all directions equally and doesn't need to be lined up with the mouth. The mic offers an IP57 rating, which protects it against water, sweat, and makeup, commonly harmful to microphones.

The unit comes with a windscreen, cable clip, storage box, and an interchangeable TA5F/mini XLR X-Connector for Lectrosonics wireless systems.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I set the gain to the highest setting. In your experience what is the best setting when recording vows from weddings?

A: I typically use the medium setting, and then have it in Dual record mode.

Q: 2. What are the specs of the mic included with the Tascam DR-10L?

A: Specifications provided by Tascam for the included lavalier mic are as follows: Microphone Sensitivity -42dBV/Pa, Pickup pattern - Omni, Maximum input sound pressure115dB SPL, Cable Length - 63 in (160cm)

Q: 3. can I plug this into a Sennheiser transmitter?

A: No, unfortunately not. The Polsen MO-IDL2-MK2 Dual Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone has a 3.5mm TRRS connector that is not compatible for use with the 3.5mm TRS locking input on a Sennheiser transmitter. As a compatible alternative for a dual lavalier mic, you can use the Saramonic DK3A2 Dual Mini Omni Lav Mic with Locking 3.5mm for Transmitters, Recorders, Cameras, Mixers with Plug-In Power (B&H # SADK3A2).

Q: 4. Is there a recommended foam windscreen to cover the metal one? I tried mine out in the field for the first time and it worked beautifully. However, it would have been nice to have a foam windscreen.

A: Jeremy,We don't make one but they are available from other companies.Thank you for your interest in TASCAM products.

Q: 5. So this doesn't show the levels on screen so how you you know where your levels are? Is listening through headphones you only solution?

A: The device autorecords audio at two levels automatically. So you can pick which file to use after. I guess it somewhat eliminates the need for level control (as long as it's recording).

Q: 6. What happens when the internal battery eventually fails?

A: If the internal battery for the Sony PCM-A10 Audio Recorder fails, you will need to contact Sony to inquire about battery replacement.

Q: 7. Im seeing a few reviews about this thing recording a layer of static throughout? Has anyone figured out what causes this? Its the only thing making me worried about purchasing it?

A: Hi there! Ive been using this for professional projects for a while now and have had no issues with it and no static. As a matter of fact its been roughed up a bit sometimes on shoots and it really holds up

Q: 8. How easily can settings be changed accidentally by talent using it (or recording be stopped!)?? That seems like a huge risk since there's no way to monitor it while shooting. (Not to mention noises from clothes, etc)Can it be locked or something?

A: The DR-10L features a recessed power+recording start/stop switch that would be very difficult to stop by accident. To power up the DR-10L the power switch must be pressed and held in the Power On direction for a few seconds, and the recording/stop recording functions are operated in the same manner. While your assertion about the risk due to lack of monitoring is plausible, in my particular application (live wedding events) it is nearly impossible to correct audio issues like noises from clothes or other intermittent interruptions since the event cannot be stopped. That being said, having redundant high-quality audio capture with inexpensive devices like the DR-10L and additional ambient sound recorders has been a better fix than trying to depend on one or two devices that I would otherwise think to be bulletproof.

Q: 9. Can I connect my Rode Videomic shotgun mic to the Tascam DR-10L mic input? It also has a 3.5mm, 1//8 connector.

A: Most probably yes. I use the DR-10L with sE Electronics ProMic Laser (search B&H for specs) and they work well together.

Q: 10. How can I monitor audio if someone is wearing the microphone?

A: Or you could hook up a inexpensive tiny Bluetooth transmitter to it and use any Bluetooth headset up to 50-100ft away. Even the person on can could do this. Keep one earbud in.
