Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. The audio levels are coming in way too low when I use the RodeLink Wireless Filmmaker Kit with the 70D. I've set the gain as high as it will go. Is there another setting that I'm missing?

A: Assuming that when you say you have set the gain as high as it will go (Basic menu/Gain HI+Plus), and turned up the channel volume, the only thing left is to make sure the output on the wireless is at max gain. I have noticed that the 70D doesn't have an abundance of gain. Depending on the output of the particular device, it could run low. It may require normalizing or boosting in software once imported.

Q: 2. Any chance that one day we will get one like this designed for lav mics?

A: Likely you can use it for a lavaliere mic if the mic has phantom power and uses a xlr connection. I don't see why it would not work with that combination. I use mine attached to a Sennheiser ME 66/K6P microphone on a boom pole for on-the-street interviews in noisy environments and so far it has worked perfectly. The only hassle is syncing the audio with the video in post but i just have the interview subjects clap their hands once before the start of the interview and that makes syncing much easier and faster. You just have to remember to press the record button twice. I forgot that a few times and missed recording the interview. I also use this set up on a podium when a using a wireless microphone or running cables isn't practical. Worked perfectly each time.

Q: 3. Does this unit work with a boom microphone?

A: Yes. The microphone must be a dynamic, NOT condensor, as the unit does not supply 48V.

Q: 4. Would this word with a countryman xlr lav? If not, I wish someone would make a lavalier system that would just record high quality audio from the mic. In today's world of synching in post, it would be far more reliable than a wireless system. Have tried consumer voice recorders but don't get quality I want. And, frankly, it just looks ghetto.

A: The Tascam DR-10x recorder is designed specifically to work with dynamic handheld ENG mics. It is not able to provide phantom power to mics that require it such as the Countryman lavaliers hardwired with XLR connectors.

Q: 5. hi) possible connection lavalier mic?

A: you have a microphone that fits?

Q: 6. Hello, Tascam shows this item not available in the U.S on their site does this effect you?

A: This is a new New Item, Available for pre-order.Expected availability: End of November 2014

Q: 7. Will this unit work with wired Sony Lavs that are already individually powered by their in-line AA batteries?

A: It should but after working with the DR-X10 I wouldn't recommend it. A great idea not well executed.

Q: 8. Can this handle line level input? (eg. Recording out of a mixing console)

A: Yes

Q: 9. Will it work with the tentacle sync Track E?

A: Yes, the Tascam TM-10L and TM-10LW are compatible for use with the Tentacle Sync Track E.

Q: 10. Is the headphones output giving out the signal while it records ? I want to plug an output cable also so the signal goes to the mixer as well amd I thought of using the phones output.

A: Yes. It's a live output while recording.

So thankful someone made a white recording device! This is perfect to mic the bride at a wedding. It's small and discreet and is a very powerful recording device! Not to mention B&H sent it to me SO quickly!

I will never shoot another wedding without at least one of these.

I bought the white version, as I already have a black lav mic, and it's nice to have the white lav as an option (especially weddings). I don't necessarily mic my brides, and this system helps that habit even more. The last wedding I shot, my Rode Wireless Go on the officiant lost connectivity somehow leaving me with only 1 DR-10L on the groom... to my surprise, the audio from all three (bride, groom, officiant) is all usable. I don't recommend doing this intentionally, but their auto leveling system absolutely saved me.

I know it's not exciting to spend money on audio gear, but 200ish bucks is really NOTHING for how useful this thing can be. With a bit of creativity, this thing can be used for SO MANY scenarios in so many ways.

This microphone is great! It is small and compact, making it perfect for interviews. The sound quality is great and I love that you can plug your headphones directly into it to playback the recording.

I was very skeptical at first about this recorder, but I've change my mind immediately after the first test and actual use at the wedding.
To everyone who is interested, I highly recommend Tascam DR-10L Micro Portable Audio Recorder

If you want to take your audio to the next level, you'll want to mic the bride and/or groom who is wearing white.

I have used all types of lavaliers and for the price and ease of use, this one blows all of them away, Only drawback is there is no way to monitor the actual audio live, but if you set it up correctly, you'll have no issues. It has some great features like back-up audio while you record. Audio quality is very good and the interface is pretty self explanatory (read the manual once and you're good) and the price makes it easier to get more than one. instead of one very expensive lav, I'd choose more than one of this.

This is the second one I have purchased, the first being the black model. B&H had the white one for 40.00 years off my on a deal of the day. Perfect opportunity to get another for backup. Great sound quality for mobile recording, or when it's difficult to use a microphone on a boom pole. The auto level is excellent, and the redundant -6db simultaneous record a great feature

The white is great for wedding dresses. The recorder is solid and love every feature about it - long battery life, safety channels, auto gain - I fully trust this thing and have 2 of them.
