Safeguard your equipment with the Lens Cover for Tamron 2.0x Teleconverter from LensCoat. This water-resistant neoprene cover is custom-built to fit tightly around your teleconverter, and helps protect it against bumps and scratches that may occur while you are out shooting.
The neoprene material acts as a thermal barrier between your hands and the lens barrel, making operation more comfortable in extreme heat or cold. For simplified operation, the cover features an opening for the lens release lever. The Realtree AP Snow pattern is primarily white and features a subtle pattern of leaves and branches that is well-suited to hiding your gear from wildlife when shooting outdoors during the winter. Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Is this a kit lens?
A: yes it's a kit lens
Q: 2. If I have never used this large of a lens is it very difficult to learn?
A: I shoot wildlife with this lens and it is tack sharp. That being said, you have to learn and use long lens technique . With any lens of this focal length you need a good heavy tripod to reduce shake. Use a higher shutter speed to help freeze the image and reduce the effect of shake. I will often use a release so that I can frame the photo and then get my hands off of the camera/lens and wait for it to settle down before firing. If the subject is moving this isn't possible so keep that shutter speed up. If you are in high winds try to get beside something so it acts as a wind break for you. The best head for a lens this size is a gimbal type head such as the Wimberly and a Arca Swiss style foot on the lens such as Really Right Stuff. Set up like this it is so perfectly balanced you move it around with one finger and it stays put when you stop moving it. To get this to where the critters are I use a Lowepro backpack designed for up to the 600/4 and a body. Tripod on the side of the bag and a large rear pocket for flash, remote cord, and bracket to put the flash over the lens attached to the gimbal mount not the camera. That way you can rotate from vertical to horizontal and back with out moving the flash.Turn the power on the flash down and use it to just barely kiss the subject and bring out color and detail. I use flash mainly on birds or small animals. I shoot with the D810 but if I need more reach I can mount my D300 as it is a dx sensor with a 1.5x crop factor and I get an effective 900mm with it and still maintain the f4 wide open.
Q: 3. Can this work on a nikon fm10?
A: No, unfortunately not. The lens in question does not have an aperture ring to change the f stops with this manual camera. Furthermore the fm10 does not have any electronic lens mount contacts to engage the VR system.
Q: 4. Is this lens compatible with Nikon D7100?
A: I don't know for sure, but would imagine so. I bought it for my D-3100. It as worked great...was my son's HS tennis team photographer this fall.
Q: 5. Does this lens (purchased new) come with the HB-36 hood?
A: My lens did come with the lens hood. I like the fact that the hood can be reverse-mounted when I'm not using the lens affording a little more protection in the camera bag. I've been very happy with the results I've gotten with the lens. I'd rate the quality as very high. It's fairly heavy. I'd make sure you want to carry the weight while you're out shooting.
Q: 6. This lens fit nikon D60?
A: Yes, this lens is compatible with the Nikon D60.
Q: 7. I guess my question is very hard to answer( keep the 500mm or purchase the 600mm if price did not matter) Lets talk about birding @ 500ft or so, now both lenses provide quality images but as owners personal point of view would you stay with the lighter 500mm tripod mounted or move up to the heavier 600mm also tripod mounted? Do you feel that in your opinion the 500mm has an edge over the 600mm or not?
A: As I had said in a previous answer: I feel no need to buy to 600. It is very heavy, eliminating any possibility of hand-held shots. I get good IQ with the 500 with 1.4x and 1.7x teleconverters. The cost of the 600 would be very extravagant when added to the cost of the 500.I went through this process in December of last year, I chose the 500 over the 600.
Q: 8. Is this good for a Nikon D80?
A: yes
Q: 9. Is this lens compatible with a Nikon D40?
A: The Nikon AF-S 70-300mm lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D40, yes. This would include autofocus.
Q: 10. will this work for Coolpix l810?
A: this lens is intended for a Nikon SLR-type digital camera and cannot be used for a point-and-shoot, like a Coolpix
