Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. IOGear 2-Port usb kvm switch with audio and microphone GCS72U...using 2 computers, is each one able to connect to the internet independently?

A: Thank you for choosing IOGEAR. The GCS72U is a KVM switch made to share one keyboard , mouse and monitor between two computers. The internet connection going to each computer would not be affected. Once again, thank you for choosing IOGEAR.

Q: 2. Right now I am using the device to share my monitor, keyboard and mouse. How do I unplug the monitors so that i only share the keyboard and mouse?

A: You should be able to simply plug the monitor directly into the computer you want to have the display attached to and leave the keyboard and mice cables plugged in the KVM switch and to the attached PCs. I'm not sure why you would want to use the switch with no visible display unless you now have 2 monitors one for each PC and a single mouse and a single keyboard.

Q: 3. With this startech KVM Switch - are the USB cables provided ?

A: USB cables not included.

Q: 4. Using 2 computers, will each be able to separately connect to the internet?

A: Yes, they will continue to connect to the internet in the same manner as always. This device is only intended to share a monitor and keyboard/mouse (or other USB devices) between otherwise independent computers.

Q: 5. The Product Overview says "The 2nd Cat 5e cable is used for HDCP, RS-232, and microphone signals". What is the impact of only using one Cat 5e cable if I don 't use RS-232 or a microphone? Will the monitor not display copy-protected material?

A: Correct, the absence of HDCP with the absence of the second Cat 5e connection may render some material as invisible.

Q: 6. How do we determine the ip address of the unit?

A: Detailed instructions on determining the IP address of the ATEN CS1708I can be found on page 145 of the manual, which is is located here: https://assets.aten.com/product/manual/cs1708i-1716i-w_2015-08-19.pdf

Q: 7. I wants use for dual monitor from single laptop its possible to use it ?

A: That will not work for what you are trying to archive. If you already have a monitor connected and need to add a second one the easiest way to do that is by using an external graphic card like https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/945143-REG/startech_usb32hde_usb_3_to_hdmi_dvi.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/945143-REG/startech_usb32hde_usb_3_to_hdmi_dvi.html/a

Q: 8. If I were to connect a vga to dvi-i converterdvi-i to dvi-d converter to the supplied cable wouldn't that allow a vga monitor to come thru?

A: To connect a VGA computer to this KVM you can use a VGA to DVI-I Cable, or a VGA cable with a VGA-DVI Adapter. A DVI-I to DVI-D Adapter is not required. For more information, please see page 29 of the user manual. http://bit.ly/1xtlNUs

Q: 9. Does it come with an power supply?

A: Yes, the IOGEAR GCS1104 4-Port USB DVI KVMP Switch with Audio and Cables includes a power adapter.

Q: 10. Can I extend the controller or is it a fixed length?
