The NiSi 58mm Pro Circular Polarizer Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

The NiSi 58mm Pro Circular Polarizer Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It features a brass filter ring that can be rotated in order to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect while enhancing durability and jamming prevention. Additionally, one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces to create an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.

Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.

Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.

Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.

Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.

NiSi Optical Nano Coating creates an improved beading effect when in contact with moisture for greater cleaning efficiency.

2 to 2.5x filter factor reduces exposure by 1 to 1.3 stops.

Constructed from optical glass for clarity.

Brass filter ring helps to prevent jamming, and provides additional strength.

Filter ring can be rotated to adjust the intensity of the polarization effect.

Side knurling to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing filter from a lens.

58mm front filter threads allow for use with other filters.

Plastic filter case for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is there a way to use a 65mm x 65mm Baader h-alpha filter on this filter holder?

A: Unfortunately there isn't. Since the NiSi 100mm Filter Holder for Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S Lens is 100mm wide a 65mm filter would be too small to fit.

Q: 2. Will this cause a problem on the Sony RX-100VII when the lens automatically retracts?

A: Yes, you must remove the filter holder before turning the camera off, otherwise it could damage the lens.

Q: 3. Can this be used together with the new Nisi CPL for Z14-24mm lens ( to use CPL and ND at the same time)?

A: This filter holder mounts over the lens so the NiSi CPL can be screwed onto the lens as well. However, the square filters will prevent access to the polarizer making it difficult to adjust

Q: 4. Is it possible to have a 6-stop and a 10-stops NISI filter that fit with my NISI Sony RX100 VII kit Maurice

A: The NiSi P1 Prosories ND1000 Filter (10-Stop) fill fit NISI Sony RX100 VII kit. Here is the link: https://bhpho.to/3M9K1Lp Unfortunately there is not a 6-stop ND filter that will fit.

Q: 5. Do you sell a 77mm step up ring to use this holder on other lenses?

A: Yes, if you already have the main adapter NiSi 82mm Main Adapter for 100mm V7 Filter Holder Kit you can use the step up ring below. NiSi 77-82mm Step-Up Ring for 100mm V5/V5 Pro/V6/V7/C4 Holder BH #NIPV5AD77 • MFR #NIP-V5-AD77 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1332052-REG/nisi_nip_v5_ad77_77mm_adapter_ring_for.html?sts=pi&

Q: 6. What is the actual filter size?

A: The filters included in the NiSi Filter System for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VI or DSC-RX100 VII Digital Camera (Professional Kit) would be approximately 1.57 x 2.36 inches (40mm x 60mm) in size (W x H), and would be approximately 1.5mm thick.

Q: 7. Will this work on an RX100 VA?

A: No, the NiSi Filter System for Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VI or DSC-RX100 VII Digital Camera (Professional Kit) will not work with the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 VA Digital Camera.

Q: 8. Has anyone tried this on a Sony FDR-AX53 (with 55mm-to-58mm step up ring)? (Or on the AX33 or AX100)? If so, any feedback on how well it worked?

A: While this lens has not been specifically tested on the AX53 you could certainly attach it with a 55-58mm Step-Up Ring. The AX33 has a 52mm thread, while the AX100 has a 62mm thread. Those are more popular sizes for Wide Angle Conversion lenses and Raynox makes options that will attach directly to those cameras.

Q: 9. Would this work well with a Canon VIXIA HF G30?

A: I was not happy with the optical quality of the HD-6600 Pro 0.66x wide angle lens. It was very soft over all and had a small center area of the lens that actually reduced the contrast, so things in the that circle that were black, looked dark grey. Very strange lens. I would not recommend this lens to anyone. I would stick to name brand lens. Will

Q: 10. Is this compatible with the Panasonic H-HS35100 35-100mm f/2.8 lens?

A: Yes. The Panasonic H-HS35100 35-100mm f/2.8 has 58 mm front threading and the Raynox HD-6600 Pro 58mm 0.66x Wide Angle Converter Lens is threaded for 58 mm.
