The IPGard Secure 8-Port Dual-Head DVI-I KVM Switch allows users to control keyboard, video, and mouse operation on up to eight computers with dual-head DVI displays (or HDMI/VGA displays with an optional adapter). It supports native video resolution up to 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz. Designed for use in secure defense and intelligence applications, this switch is NIAP PP 3.0 certified and includes security features that meet Information Assurance safe control standards.

Thanks to the opto-isolators that keep the USB data paths electrically isolated from each other, providing high isolation and preventing data leakage between ports. This switch emulates the presence of a keyboard and a mouse for every attached computer through a USB cable, preventing direct connection between the peripherals and the connected computer. It also prevents unwanted and unsecure data from getting transmitted through the DDC lines by means of secure EDID learning and emulation.

The unit is equipped with internal anti-tamper switches, which sense attempts to open the device enclosure. Once the system identifies such an attempt, the unit shuts off connections with all the attached PCs and peripherals, disabling any functionality. The controller of the unit comes with a protection feature that prevents reprogramming or reading the firmware. The enclosure is also protected with a tamper-evident seal to provide a visual evidence if the unit has been opened.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do the slots fit for SD cards still in their case?

A: Yes, the sd cards and case will fit in this pouch.

Q: 2. Can I plug an external HD into the data/charging port?

A: Yes, the data/charging port supports both Data (using an HD or flash drive) as well as charging devices.

Q: 3. Can it hold sd cards in their plastic boxes (like the ones supplied with Sandisk Extreme Pro)?

A: A very tight fit with the plastic case. Not designed for that purpose.

Q: 4. Will it handle two (2) self powered USB Laser Printers, and 1 external Backup Drive as the sum total of the peripheral load?

A: I doubt it. It fried my external drive after a week, it would unmount while files were being transferred. After the 4th or 5th time it happened the drive died. Have not been able to get the drive to work since. I returned the hub. i wouldnt plug anything into this hub unless you can afford to lose it.

Q: 5. Do the charging ports allow data transfer as well?

A: All !0 ports are for data, 3 of the 10 will transfer data and charge.

Q: 6. what "wattage" do the charging ports produce?

A: The Xcellon 10-Port Powered USB 3.0 Slim Aluminum Hub with 3 Dual Data/Charging Ports will be able to output 2W of power for two devices and 1W of power for the third device.

Q: 7. I know this has been asked in a different form, but I just need to make sure. I intend to connect this to a laptop that will be sleeping 99% of the time when not in use, and then plug it in a power conditioner that I switch off when not in use. My question is if this hub will 'disconnect' from the laptop when powered off, and will not transmit buss power from the sleeping laptop, effectively keeping things like an SSD drive or buss powered midi keyboard ON? To be clear, I want this disconnect to happen. Hope this made sense. Thanks!

A: Yes, when the host computer would sleep the access to the powered device is cut. Due to the device needing to be accessed to start its function.

Q: 8. Does this mic give the left ear to one mic and the right ear to the other or does it do a mixdown into one mono channel?

A: Based on the description, this unit will output both sources to a mono input. This would suggest that both sources will be mixed together going into any device.

Q: 9. Will this work well on iMac 2019 and can I hookup Time Machine backup USB drive?

A: Yes, this hub is compatible and will work with an external, bus powered storage volume.

Q: 10. Will this run a webcam to my 2018 macbook pro?

A: Yes you can use this with a webcam.
