Styled in white finish, the Genelec 8340A is a single SAM Series, 2-way active studio monitor designed to provide accurate mix referencing with software control capabilities for audio engineers, musicians, and producers in project studios, small-to-medium-sized control rooms, edit suites, or mobile setups. It features 300W of Class-D amplification driving a 6.5” woofer and 3/4” tweeter, producing a frequency response of 38 Hz to 22 kHz.

A proprietary waveguide enhances imaging, while the bass reflex port extends the low-frequency response. The die-cast aluminum enclosure is shaped to minimize diffraction and reflections. XLR connectors are provided for the balanced analog input and AES/EBU digital input and output. Built-in signal overload protection enhances dependability and protects the speaker. Rear-panel room compensation controls include level and high- and low-frequency adjustments. Detailed frequency adjustments and automatic calibration can be performed via GLM (Genelec Loudspeaker Manager) software and the GLM User Kit (available separately). A selectable power-saving mode enables automatic power up/down via a signal-sensing circuit.

The 8340A offers multiple mounting options including an Iso-Pod isolation stand and threaded holes that are compatible with select K&M mounts and various wall/ceiling brackets.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the back of the card blank empty or there is some wording on it? The pocket size seems to have something on it which is rather annoying as im looking for an empty rear side card to manually adjust the WB on camera itself than post process. Thanks

A: I've used the front for manual white balance, it works well. (Depending on your camera)But no, the back has a bunch of info, branding, a light spectrum guide, ect. Actually, I just looked at it closely, and the back is a different color. It appears the certified grey side is actually adhered to a sturdy light grey plastic layer.

Q: 2. Is this card appropriate for manually adjusting white balance in camera?

A: Yes, it is designed for that. I use it that way and it works perfectly.

Q: 3. I just received my Papilio 6.5X binoculars. I have properly set the interpupillary distance for distance viewing but have noticed that when I focus close to or especially at minimum focus distance I see slight overlapping images. At those close distances I cannot adjust the interpupillary distance to eliminate this problem. Is this an unavoidable problem with these extreme closeup design or do I have a problem with my binoculars?

A: Yes, The binocular is limited to its maximum spec.

Q: 4. What is the diameter of the lowest riser pole?

A: Its about 1 1/8th inches.

Q: 5. would this hold a greenscreen?

A: This is a very solid stand that can bear a good bit of weight, especially if you use sandbags to counter any uneven loads. I don't know exactly what kind of green screen you have in mind, but two of these stands and some sort of crossbar would certainly hold a roll of green seamless paper.

Q: 6. Can this be used as a backdrop stand and is there a suitable crossbar that could go with this that is also made of durable material so that there is no bowing in the middle when the stand is fully extended and holding weight ten feet across?

A: I use these for background stands, but I attached a Superclamp to the baby pin at the top and then use a piece of 10 foot conduit, that is clamped into the Superclamp, I picked up the electrical conduit from Home Depot or Lowes in their electrical departments. The electrical conduit is NOT collapsible but is it available in various sizes for backgrounds with pockets and they typically will not bow unless you hang a LOT of weight from them.

Q: 7. Do I need to buy anything extra to attach my AlienBee B400 to this stand?

A: No, the AlienBee 400 will attach directly to the c-stand with no needed extra accessories.

Q: 8. Do Papilio have Serial number? And where to look for it?

A: on the left underside- spread the binoculars to their widest interpulillary distance and the whole data plate will be visible- will show ricoh imaging and made in china and the serial # (6 digits for my papillio I and II)

Q: 9. When viewing insects, is there a significant difference between the 8.5x21 and the 6.5x21?

A: I bought my 6.5x21 to view butterflies and small day flying moths. It's a trade off between the 8.5 and the 6.5 as the answers below mention. I have only tried a friend's 8.5 once, but I had some trouble locating my subject after it moved. The 6.5 has served me well and I have yet to need more magnification. I made the right choice for myself with the 6.5. They are also great for viewing all sorts of subjects, from flowers to mountains. I love them.

Q: 10. Can I attach a 50 inch Sony flat screen TV to the mount supplied? How tall is the stand when extended?

A: The Impact Studio LCD Monitor Support Kit comes with a VESA mount. If the TV has that mount, it will attach to that. Note: The stand supports no more than 22 lb, and if your TV is say 20 lb or more, it is not recommended. The stand can go up to 10.75 feet.
