Outfitted with a configuration favored by birders, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts who work at long ranges, the Opticron 10x42 Adventurer II WP Binoculars feature high power for bringing far-off subjects in close, and an objective lens diameter that provides extended performance in low light without excessive bulk. Outfitted with BAK4 roof prisms and fully multicoated optics, they deliver high-contrast views that are bright and clear with accurate color representation. Their 15mm eye relief helps boost the comfort-level during extended observation sessions and reduces eye fatigue.

The body is made from aluminum and polycarbonate for strength and durability. The neutral weight distribution ensures the center of gravity sits naturally in your hand to help prevent arm fatigue. Protective rubber armor and raised palm pads provide a slip-resistant grip and the large, textured focus wheel makes them easy to use — especially in cold and wet weather or when wearing gloves. The optical tubes are nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to make them waterproof and to prevent internal fogging when you are moving through extreme temperature and environmental conditions. Tethered objective lens caps ensure they are nearby when needed and a one-piece ocular rainguard allows for fast deployment in the field.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the front objective of the 10x42L IS threaded for an aluminum lens hood or filter? If so what diameter is it? The binoculars are obviously 42mm diameter, but the recommended accessories lists a 52mm lens hood. If the threads are 42mm does anybody make a lens hood that size? Sensei does not list a 42mm hood.

A: The accessory would indeed need to be 52 mm. the cross diameter is just over 2". And yes it is threaded....hope this helps.

Q: 2. Why did you choose this model over the LEICA Ultravid HD 10x32?

A: I am not quite sure what you mean. However I do know most people choose the 42mm Size because it is brighter, and better in low light. The 32mm are lighter weight, however not as bright.

Q: 3. I also want the floating strap. how much to include that please ?

A: The model floats, so you do not need a floating strap extra. We do not carry a dedicated Floating Strap that will work with this model either. My sincere apologies.

Q: 4. Whats in the box?

A: Binocular and case. Wide Canon strap for the binocular, plain skinny strap for the case. AA batteries, objective and eyepiece lens caps, a tether for the objective caps, manual, registration card. No cleaning cloth.

Q: 5. How does the 8 X 43 Z-Series' Hybrid Aspherical Lens Elements compare to its ED cousins in terms of refractive and abbe indexes?

A: The ED version will be significantly higher resolution and much brighter

Q: 6. I added lens hoods to protect the objectives but now the binoculars no longer fit in the case. Any recommendations for an alternative one?

A: I recommend the following: two 52 mm screw-in UV filters (I went for the B+W No. 010 MRC Master filters [a bit of "overkill," but they are excellent) and a pair of Canon 52 mm "pinch-style" lens caps (which fit securely when used with the B+W filters). I find this combination works well, looks good, and allows easy insertion of the entire assembly into the case. I have never understood the need for bulky lens hoods in this application, since the optics are very flare-resistant in the first place, and the filters protect the front surface of the objective lenses at all times. For the B+H filters see: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=B%2BH%2052mm%20UV%20Master%20filters&sts=ma For the Canon 52 mm pinch-style lens caps see: See: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/883410-REG/Canon_6315b001_E_52_II_Lens_Cap.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/883410-REG/Canon_6315b001_E_52_II_Lens_Cap.html

Q: 7. I lost my manual. Where can i download one?

A: You probably can get one from B&H - if not Google Canon and you should be able to get one there.

Q: 8. Made in China?

A: The Pentax 10x42 S-Series SD WP Binocular is made in the Philippines.

Q: 9. Can the objective lens covers be removed completely from the binoculars and later be reattached if needed?

A: Yes, the lens cover on the Nikon 10x42 Monarch HG Binoculars are removable rubber caps.

Q: 10. What is the warranty for a USA purchaser?

A: These binoculars carry a 3-Year Leica No-Fault Passport Warranty and Limited Lifetime Warranty.

These are very good binoculars optically, and the stabilization really does let you see much more detail. I use them for wildlife and astronomy. You can see the moons of Jupiter and almost make out that Saturn has rings. You can also somewhat see Andromeda Galaxy as a hazy patch in a light-polluted night sky. On the downside, they are bigger, heavier, and much more expensive than non-stabilized binoculars, and I wish they had cost half of what they do. The front elements are pretty close to the front, so I got screw-in lens hoods and lens caps for extra protection following the advice of others. I also wish the eye-cups were softer. Overall, I do enjoy them more than I would non-stabilized binoculars and I'll be happy with my purchase if they work reliably for many years.

I've used these watching wolves at distances of up to three miles, with stunning results! The clarity and amount of detail that you see at these distances is simply amazing. Not one of the many people I've let look through these, has had any other reaction than that of being blown away. Yes the lens covers are worthless and they are a little bulky, but the veiw you get for the price you pay makes this an absolute no brainer!

The main reason I perchased this binos is that I can get a still view without trembling. Canon's Image Stabilization is amazing! The lens are the same quality as other cammera L lens! The bad point is that lens' caps for eyecup and object lens don't fit perfectly.

Bottom line:the best visual acuity possible. No eyestrain, bright, easy to use.I use these for recreation, marine, and have a ranch in Americas rainiest city,Hilo HI.You will never be wondering if you made the right choice with these.Others also have great optics, but Not with IS.I only wish Canon/Nikon could make a camera with instructions to submerge it in fresh water to thoroughly rinse after muddy, sandy, swampy or marine use!Unbelievable and worth the money.

Alaska cruising and land touring on a variety of platforms proved the worth of these bins to me. Excellent optical quality without the stabilizer feature engaged. From an unstable viewing platform, with the image stabilizer engaged, (tour boat, train, etc), these proved to be far superior to my cutting edge Swarovski 10 X 42 Swarovision bins. Will I go to these for my main birding bins? No! Why? When the image stabilizer is activated, there is a certain amount of focus float, which means that the image sharpness doesn't maintain exact focus. You have to constantly fine adjust the focus knob to get the best clarity. I happen to be blessed with way above average visual acuity, so I am able to descern the slight differences in sharpness of focus (when in image stabilized mode), that most people would not see. I have also owned and used some of the best glass in the world. I feel these bins are world class. The only negatives are size and weight which is easily negated by a binocular shoulder harness. The 3 year warranty is less than the top names, but not a big concern to me. Would I trade my Swarovski's for them-no! The Swarovski's are the top of the heap. Would I ever trade these Canons off-never! In fact, on my next trip to AK, I'll leave the Swaro's at home. My next slug it out in the mud and rain, 10 mile birding walk, over rough terrain?, I'll take the Swaro's. For just about everything else, I'll take the Canon 10 X42's.

We have other Canon image stabilizer binoculars but these are by far the sharpest.

I've used these less than a month, but they fully meet my expectations. I was coached by a professional colleague who has used at least two different Canon image stabilizing binoculars, and he recommended this one as the best. I was prepared for their bulk and weight, so no surprises there. I was also happy to discover that they have lens caps. I haven't had to test them in inclement weather as yet. But, they hold the image perfectly still for me which is a Godsend as my hands have become more shaky with age. Image clarity, magnification, quick and close focus capabilities are excellent. I strongly recommend these for birding and wildlife work.

I have a desire to see far away wildlife and geogological formations. Image stabilization is wonderful. I am a Canon camera user with many IS lenses. This does not disappoint!

I have owned 3 different Canon IS pairs and 3 Fujinon IS pairs and several other Alpha binoculars. I can say without any hesitation that this is the best IS pair in the market today. Optically it is excellent (I use it for Astronomy and bird watching) and the stabilization works well. The bottom line is that I have now sold all other pairs and this is the only one I have kept. Yes, it is heavy, but it delivers.

4-5-09 I am a avid birder but have gotton shakier the last few years and birding has become less fun.My new binocs have given me a new lease on life! They are great for scanning at a distance.I normally dont buy extended warranties but I did in this case.It allows me to use the binocs for three years before I have to put on UV filters to protect the objective lenses. My salesman James was very knowledgeable and non-pressure.
