Designed for the outstanding optical performance required for experienced birders, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts, GPO USA's black 8x42 Passion HD Binoculars use individual extra low-dispersion (ED) glass lenses that are laminated together into a single unit to minimize internal light reflection and chromatic aberration — which enhances resolution, contrast, and color rendition beyond what ED glass does in a traditional lens design.

Added to this Double HD lens configuration, the Passion HD combines phase-corrected BAK4 Schmidt-Pechan prisms, and anti-reflective fully multi-coated optics that work together to further enhance the optical properties and produce clear and bright images with accurate color representation across the entire wide field of view without distortion, or spherical or chromatic aberrations. When combined with its ultra-long eye relief and comfortable exit pupil, users will be presented with a panoramic and immersive observational experience in the field, at the range, or in the blind; and when out on the water the common disorientation experienced when glassing in rolling seas is greatly minimized.

All exterior lens surfaces are treated with GPO's proprietary PASSIONdrop hydrophobic coatings, which repel water, dust, oil, and dirt to make them smudge repellent, help them stay cleaner longer, and easier to clean. Its sturdy magnesium alloy chassis helps to keep the weight down without sacrificing strength, while its micro-bridge design frees up more space on the optical tubes for the user's hands to improve grip strength and stability. The binoculars are wrapped in a protective rubber armor that provides a non-slip grip even in cold and wet weather. Each optical tube is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes or environmental conditions.

From dawn to dusk and in all weather conditions, the Passion HD binoculars will become an invaluable addition to your kit for all types of outdoor activities.

  • Moderate 8x magnification helps to maintain a wide field of view
  • 42mm objective lenses boost light-gathering ability versus compact models for improved low-light performance without the bulk of larger objectives
  • Compact BAK4 Schmidt-Pechan prisms allow for thinner optical tubes versus the more common Abbe-Koenig prism
  • Phase-correcting prism coatings reduce internal light interference to help improve contrast and overall image sharpness
  • Extra low-dispersion (ED) glass corrects for spherical and chromatic aberrations, astigmatism, and off-axis comas to produce crisp and sharp images with accurate colors especially at the edges
  • Double HD lens configuration: Multiple lenses are chemically laminated to make a single, multilayer high-performance optical lens that minimizes light reflection, creates enhanced resolution and color contrast images, and minimizes chromatic aberrations
  • Proprietary GPObright fully multi-coated optics limit light loss while further improving image brightness, color rendition, and contrast
  • 57° apparent angle of view produces an immersive observational experience
  • 375-foot field of view at 1000 yards

  • Compact yet strong magnesium micro-bridge exposes more surface area on the optical tube to improve hold and comfort without sacrificing strength
  • Large textured slip-resistant center focus wheel is easy to manipulate even while wearing gloves
  • Sturdy machined aluminum right-eye diopter ring, broad ±4 dioptric correction range for precise focus adjustment to most user's individual eye prescription
  • Twist-up click-stop eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear
  • 57-75mm interpupillary adjustment range
  • Tripod mountable with optional adapter for hands-free use, and reduced arm fatigue and vibrations
  • Extra-long 19.5mm eye relief makes long-duration glassing sessions more comfortable without eye strain
  • Wide 5.25mm exit pupil will cover most pupils when they open and dilate in low-light conditions for clearer views

  • Lightweight and durable magnesium alloy chassis reduces weight without sacrificing strength
  • Nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof to 200Mbars of pressure, and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme temperature changes
  • PASSIONdrop hydrophobic coatings are applied to the exterior lens surfaces to repel water, dust, oil, and dirt to make them smudge repellent, stay cleaner longer, and easier to clean
  • Protective rubber armor provides a slip-resistant grip
  • Textured palm pads improve grip security and stability — especially in wet weather
  • Comfortable neoprene neck strap, custom molded hard carrying case with strap
  • Weight: 29 ounces

Q: 1. Can someone explain limited lifetime warranty on the vortex Viper HD?

A: I am extremely happy with my Vortex Viper HD. And from the Companys homepage I can see, that the limitations should be: The VIP Warranty does not cover loss, theft, deliberate damage or cosmetic damage that does not hinder the performance of the product . I live in Denmark and bought the binoculars on a trip to New York last year

Q: 2. Do these binoculars come with the GlassPak binocular harness as described on the Vortex website?

A: Yes. When shopping our site you can always see what is included with an item by viewing the overview tab and finding the “In the Box” listing located on the right hand side of our web page. Q: 7. Does it come with tripod adapter?

A: No it does not come with the tripod adapter.

Q: 8. What is the benefit of the Viper HD over the Diamondback HD?

A: Better edge sharpness, wider field of view, 1mm more of eye relief and better low light contrast.

Q: 9. Were are these MFG?

A: My Leica 10x42 Ultravid HD's are made in Germany. Says so on the unit. Some Leica optics are made in Portugal. Not all.

Q: 10. Would you explain the difference between the Leica 8X42 ultravid and the 8X42 noctivid? Are either armored?

A: The Ultravid HD-Plus is indeed based on an older mechanical and optical design that has been around for a long time. Its a true and tested performer. The Noctivid is Leica's newest optical and mechanical designs which many individuals at Leica Camera, Inc, worked on for over 6 years before introducing. It shows numerous easily noticeable improvements in performance over not only our existing Ultravid designs, but arguably has been referred to as the new performance benchmark for all. The Ultravid line is complete with 8 different models of full sized binoculars in 32 mm, 42 mm, and 50 mm objective lens models, while the Noctivid is only available in 8x42 and 10x42 models. Comparing apples to apples between the Leica 8x42 Ultravid HD-Plus, and the Leica 8x42 Noctivid binoculars, one immediately appreciates the Noctivids closer focus (almost 5 feet closer than the Ultravid product, down to near 6 feet) as well as the Noctivid's very obvious wider field-of-view (443 feet versus 389 feet at 1,000 yards). Especially when comparing in challenging lighting, the Noctivids superior light delivery is easily demonstrable and since delivered at very high transmission across the entire visible spectrum, the Noctivids high dynamic range lends itself to a seemingly unparalleled depth of focus front to back that offers amazing eye comfort. This feature also lends itself to a very quick focus system. With so much of the field from 50 feet to infinity in focus or near focus so at once, most users find they barely have to refocus and adjustments being made are mere degrees on the focus wheel. This means you are spending more time appreciating your subject in focus and less time trying to get the subject in focus.
