A: Canon 5DIII can MFA the Sigma 50mm f1.4 Art lens. The Sigma dock allows you to MFA at four different distances, so therefore is more accurate as lenses can front or back focus different amounts at different shooting distance. For example, lenses can be spot on shooting at objects close but then back focus shooting at objects that are greater than 6ft. The MFA you can make on a camera body is just one adjustment for all shooting distances. Hope that makes sense. Also, another use for the dock would be to download the latest firmware for the lens. The dock only works with the Global Vision lenses. (i.e. art, contemporary, and sports)

A: YES! This product does work well. I have used it to fine tune the focus on my Sigma 17-70 lense. It does require taking test shots at various distances to determine the best focus. So, much trial and error, but well worth the effort. I have had several Canon factory lenses that had soft focus. This required sending the camera and lense to the service department within the limited time warranty period to avoid a servicing fee. I wish Canon offered such a product for their lenses.Nancy
