Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do the wheels on this stand lock?

A: Yes, the wheels lock. In fact, locking the wheels also locks the rotation of the caster, so it doesn't even shift from the connection of the caster to the leg.

Q: 2. can the base footprint be adjusted? if I do not want to fully extend the legs?

A: Hi David,The short answer is no. The triangular footprint is designed to provide maximum stability when the legs are fully extended and the 3 wheels are angled correctly to roll smoothly on the floor. When properly set up, the 3 sets of orange coloured support bars should be parallel with the floor. I bought 2 of these from B&H last Fall and I choose them after months of research. They are build to last, very sturdy and heavy but if you need the mount a monolight and softbox securely, these Matthews stands tick all the boxes. Hope this helps, Gerry

Q: 3. Can a boom arm be safely added to this stand? If so, which is recommended?

A: Yes it can be used with a boom arm safely.

Q: 4. The video shows that a photo scans in 2 seconds, I assume that is set at 300 dpi. How long does it take to scan a photo at 600 dpi?

A: It would takes an estimated18 seconds to scan a 4x6 photo at 600 dpi.

Q: 5. Are 3” by 3” the only filters able to use

A: That is correct. This matte box only works with 3 x 3" filters.

Q: 6. Will the Z300 scan the current version of Polaroid i-Type film?

A: Yes, the Plustek ePhoto Photo and Document Scanner will be able to scan the current version of Polaroid i-Type film.

Q: 7. can i remove the wheels??

A: Not without permanently damaging the stand. But there is no need to do so as the wheels all have VERY stable locking mechanisms. Once you lock the wheels, the stand won't move. In fact, locking the wheels also locks the rotation of the caster, so it doesn't even shift from the connection of the caster to the leg. If you don't want wheels, you should get a C-stand instead.

Q: 8. Does anyone have any input on this product? Will it work for 9 foot rolls? Thanks!

A: Yes, we use it for 9ft rolls in our studio (kept the paper on cardboard rolls). Very sturdy. Works great, cardboard tubes from the paper rolls start to warp over time (up for 8 months; could switch the paper over to a pvc pipe if warping gets worse). The only thing to look out for is paper doesn't stay rolled very well because there is nothing to keep it wound up. If you have high ceilings won't be an issue. It's a great system. for the price.

Q: 9. Will these work with canvas backgrounds?

A: The key to this product is the weight limit. I don't remember what that is- but canvas is usually heavier. The Mfr. says product is for 9' paper rolls. I tried to use this on my 12x10 canvas BG and have had poor results. Canvas is too heavy, distance too far and the plastic chain pull too weak to move the BG. Stick to 9 ft rolls- works great!

Q: 10. I have this product, but find that paper rolls want to just keep unrolling. Is there a way to increase tension on the chains to keep this from happening?

A: The white section of the Impact Varidrive Drive expands to keep the paper from unrolling. To expand the Impact Varidrive Drive, you should be able to turn the black knob on the end of the device while the white section is inside the seamless paper's core to expand it until it is snug to prevent the paper from unrolling while in usage.
