The Pocket Jib Traveler from Kessler Crane is designed for shooters that require an ultra-portable jib solution. It features a reach of 72" from the fulcrum when fully extended. The Pocket Jib Traveler is completely self-contained, and it collapses to 27" in length for transport and storage without requiring disassembly. The center-mounted camera platform provides stability and is designed to work seamlessly with the optional Kessler Kwik Release system for fast camera mounting.

The Pocket Jib Traveler is equipped with an adjustable sliding weight bar that provides fine-balance adjustment without significantly increasing the size of the jib. Engineered to be strong and lightweight, the jib features weight reducing window cuts that also improve its structural integrity. Incorporating both 3/8"-16 and ¼"-20 threaded mounting holes allow you to mount the jib to a variety of supports including an optional 100mm Ball kit with a 3/8"-16 stud or a standard tripod quick release plate. Integrated 1/4"-20 accessory mounting holes allow you to attach optional monitors and other accessories without affecting the operation of the jib.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Hello, I want to buy this product but with the flat mount on it just like in Kessler's page... can you do that?

A: Well, the picture and model number are exactly the same as the one on Kessler's page. Perhaps you are referring to non-standard version such B&H # KECS1010 that includes the hand crank.

Q: 2. Does the jib come with everything you need to keep the camera perfectly level as you tilt up and down, or is there some other fitment that is needed to achieve this? Can I clamp a DSLR to the end of it, move it up and down and the camera will stay perfectly horizontal?

A: As long as you set the level first, you will achieve a level move. The jib is portable so you are limited to the move distance.

Q: 3. can this Jib handle a Sony FS7?

A: This Jib is awesome but it is best used with a body with a short base as the attachment plate for the Jib is a little bit short. There is a possibility that your threaded hole is in a position that it would clear the arm when going up and down but I am not sure. We use it with our Panasonic AC90 and it just clears it. Use strong sticks though as the jib / tripod will wobble if the camera is too heavy. I hope this helps.

Q: 4. What is the ratio for the counterweights, at the different extensions?

A: Use this formula to calculate the ballpark counterweights for jibs like the Kessler Crane Pocket Jib PRO (without 100mm Swivel Mount) at varying lengths: Camera weight x distance of the camera to the pivot / distance of counter to the pivot.

Q: 5. Is it possible to get an overhead shot (looking straight down) with this jib?

A: It is possible to get an overhead shot with this jib, however you'll probably want to attach a security cable to your camera to play it safe. There are two knobs that can be loosened to extend the jib; when both are fully extended the camera will stay parallel to ground, but if you extend the top bar further than the bottom bar you can progressively tilt the camera down further and further. This jib has been extremely useful on my shoots, where I rarely have an assistant, as I can set this up in just a few minutes. Make sure you properly set your counter weight, this and a bit of practice and you'll be getting some nice, smooth shots.

Q: 6. does this crane need a specific kind of tripod?

A: The base of the Pocket Jib has a 3/8 -16 screw hole so it will mount to the base of any standard tripod leg. You will just want to make sure the tripod you use is rated to support the total payload.

Q: 7. whats in the box ??

A: In the box is what you see in the image, an adapter that allows you to mount the Kesller Pocket Jib on a 75mm or 100mm bowl tripod. Unscrew the handle, mount the ball in the tripod, level and reattach the handle. Then mount the Pocket Jib with the top two mounting nuts.

Q: 8. What would you need to mount the ronin M in the upright position onto this?

A: You can hang the Ronin by attaching the CineMilled DJI Ronin M Quick Plate to the bottom of the crane's camera mounting plate.

Q: 9. How it can be only 22 long when the traveler is about 26 inches long? I guess what you wrote is a mistake

A: The Kessler Pocket Dolly v2.0 comes in three versions, the Mini 21.25 , the Traveler 27.5 , and the Standard 39.5 version. This case would fit the Mini.In maintaining B&H's catalog of over 200,000 items, errors can occur. We thank you for bringing this to our attention and I will alert the Web Team about this.

Q: 10. Which Kessler Case is made to suit this job?

A: The Kessler Crane CJ1031 case (SKU: KECJ1031) is recommended for use with the Kessler Crane Pocket Jib PRO https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1088137-REG/kessler_crane_cj1031_crane_soft_case.html

Bought this to assist in making videos of muscle and collector cars. Did months of research and considered building my own to save money. Glad I didn't, as this unit is compact and well engineered. I like the craftsmanship and cutouts that help reduce weight. I use it with a Canon 70D and accessories that weigh about 7 lbs. This all is balanced with a 5lb weight and moves smoothly.

When I was shopping for my jib I wanted something I could fold up and didn't have to hassle with when traveling. This fit all my needs and is really easy to operate with no hassle. If you are looking for something that can fold up to and toss in your truck this is perfect!

If you are using a light camera like the GH4 this jib is perfect! I never thought I would find a jib so light and portable yet very sturdy.

We use this for DSLR video work. Excellent build, nice balance, compact, and produces very smooth moves. Has a nice reach for how small it is when collapsed. It would be perfect if the camera platform had more movement options, but it's designed to be portable and something has to give. All Kessler products I've used are well machined, very strong and reliable. A bit expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I dig this jib! Obviously it is not huge, but it is really effective for the size it is and exceptional because it's so portable!

I was looking for a compact, easy to use jib for real estate videos and some documentary actualities. I tried the DJI Osmo but it wasn't as smooth as I needed it to be (it still shows the slight up and down movements when you're walking, although it's really smooth otherwise). I've used Fisher dolly jibs and others and know how smooth they can be and while the Kessler Pocket Jib is no Fisher, it's still awesome. It's perfect for my needs. It's compact, easy to put together, very sturdy and works the way I hoped it would. When it's folded up, it's no larger than my collapsed Manfrotto tripod legs and it weighs about the same, maybe slightly less. The length is a big plus, too. I'm able to extend my tripod legs to full height and get large swooping shots when needed. I highly recommend to anyone looking for fluid and smooth dynamic shots with a compact jib.

Best portable jib, but you pay the price. It's really compact, very well built and quite easy to use. If you want the best and can pay the price, go for it.

This jib raised the bar on my quality videos substantially. What I love most about this mini jib is the fact that it's so compact, it'll fit in my tripod bag and can be set up on the spot instantly

I love love love it! After hours of researching the different options for compact, lightweight pocket jibs, I opted for the slightly heavier Kessler because it seems to be built best, carry a heavier camera load, have minimal flex, etc, etc. it does not disappoint. I was able to set it up without following any instructions, and it sets up in close to a minute. Word to the wise, go get a 5lb dumbbell free weight from @ ($) - this jib comes with a cling to hold the weight. 5lbs should do the trick for most cameras... Especially with the adjustability Kessler provides... Sliding the weight back/forth until it's just right, then lock 'er in. Enjoy!

Here is where the (KPJT) fulfilled and/or exceeded expectations: Able to capture footage at least 8 feet above ground (the KPJT could go even higher with my tripod fully extended, but I kept tripod extended around 5 feet and then attached KPJT) Folds down into compact size and can easily board an airplane and fit this in my checked luggage with my other gear. This collapses down to 27 inches and is actually more compact than my tripod or slider. Highly recommend picking up the KPJT Soft Case for travel too. Must be lightweight enough to be mounted to my carbon fiber tripod. KPJT only weighs 5.5 lbs. Must be sturdy enough to support a full-frame DSLR (Nikon D750), some moderately heavy lenses (Nikkor 14-24mm f2.8) and a shotgun mic. Must have fluid movement and stable shooting. KPJT delivers, especially with the drag control locks for up and down and side-to-side movements. But it wasn't until I got to this industrial machinery facility for a work project that I truly discovered how essential the KPJT is to my setup! Because of the KPJT I was able to swing and extend my camera into some very tight and dangerous places where machines were actively whirring and running to capture some footage that would not have been possible with a standard tripod and video head. It kept me safe and the machines operating (because if I got too close the machines would have stopped because I would have tripped their safety mechanisms). I was able to capture unbelievable low to the ground footage and jib upward to some spectacular overhead establishing shots. This product works really well with wide angle lenses. I would highly recommend you attach your tripod to a wheeled dolly to make it more portable and easier to move it around. It will be much safer than having to lift and place your tripod with the KPJT mounted to it. Also, get the Kessler Kwik Release Receiver and the Kessler Kwik Mini Plate. I use a combination of two 2.5lb and one 5lb standard gym weights.
