The KC-8 Crane from Kessler Crane is a lightweight camera crane system. It features anodized aluminum construction with dual support rails that make the crane twist resistant. An invertible camera platform enables standard or underslung camera capability. With 360° of horizontal rotation and a height range of 11', the KC-8 Crane can be used to capture sweeping cinematic shots that you can't get by just raising your camera in your arm.

The KC-8 mounts to your tripod head's release plate for mounting on your tripod. The internal sleeve bearings provide smooth boom up and down action independent of your tripod head. The adjustable weight bar allows you to adjust the balance of your camera on the crane using readily available (but not included) household weight. The crane is very portable and is easily broken down for transportation or storage.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are these wheels inflatable with air? Please reply if so what is the max pressure?

A: These are not inflatable wheels.

Q: 2. What is the maximum weight limit doe this set of wheels?

A: These wheels have a weight capacity of 300 pounds.

Q: 3. Does it have an electric or a manual pump?

A: The Kessler Crane Lamprey Adapter (8") will use a manual pump. Kessler has discontinued their AutoVac product line that provided electrical pump options.

Q: 4. Does this slider works with a manfrotto 501 head?

A: The Kessler Flat Mount Adapter gives you a 3/8 -16 stud on the cart of the CineSlider, so you can mount a flat mount head, like the 501.

Q: 5. What holes does it have to mount it on stands, 5/8" 3/8" or 14-20"?

A: The unit offers 5/8" 3/8" or 14-20" openings.

Q: 6. can I mount the Manfrotto 509HD on here and still be able to mount the Kessler Crane KC-12 on top of the manfrotto head?

A: You should be able to mount any bowl head to the kpod with the right accessories. I don't have the kc-12, but I assume as long as the kc-12 has 1/4 or 3/8 mounting holes it should work with your manfrotto. That being said, I don't think you'll be satisfied with the setup as your manfrotto head won't be able to take on that much load. Crane + Camera + Counterweights would certainly go over the 29lb capacity of that head.

Q: 7. How is the balance and usability when using this on a Cineslider with a larger camera rig, since the payload is then offset on the Cineslider?

A: There should be no issues when using this for balance. You will just need to make sure you have enough support under the slider.

Q: 8. What is the payload capacity? It states 20lbs. But with a 20lb payload x3 for counter balance, you get 60lbs. Then when you add in the 27.5lbs needed to balance the crane without a payload, you get 87.5lbs of counterbalance weight. The manual states that you should not exceed 75lbs of counter balance. So that puts the max payload for a balanced crane at 16lbs. That is 20% less than the advertised max payload. So what is the true safe balanced payload capacity and counterweight capacity?

A: Please call us: 800.606.6969

Q: 9. Does it have an electric pump or a manual pump?

A: The Kessler Crane Lamprey Adapter (8") has a manual pump. Kessler has discontinued AutoVac product line that provided electrical pump options.

Q: 10. Is this intended to connect directly to a tripod leveling base or panning base with a 3/8" stud? Or would I use a QR plate like ARCA? What are the two knobs on the mount in the photos for - what are they securing?

A: This is designed to connect directly to the tripod.

I bought this plate to provide a solid connection with my Rhino EVO slider. 3 bolts are provided with the plate to attach to the slider base, one large bolt and two smaller bolts. The bolt pattern looked the same in the photos so I expected to get all 3 bolts in and provide a no-twist, solid connection that won't need tightening as a more solid option than a simple dovetail plate. However, only the center bolt lined up while none of the other holes did. I imagine the bolt pattern is the same for the Kessler pocket dolly and that's what it's made for. The center bolt does tighten up pretty well and the solid, smooth surface mates perfectly so hopefully there will be no issues. The plate is a tad heavy and it does add notable weight to the slider. I use the plate to attach to my Really Right Stuff lever release clamp directly on my leveling base and I have to admit the plate attaches perfectly and there absolutely no wobble or give.

Can't go wrong with this. There's enough holes of various sizes to mount anywhere

One of the best 15mm baseplate. Love the weight and built-in stand with arca plate underneath. Only thing I don't like is needing to use a hex wrench to secure the rods unlike many other baseplates that can tighten and secure with just with a lever.

These are about the best utility plates I've seen. Very heavy duty. I use them to hold my 5 x 7 and 8 x 10 view cameras,

My only quibble is that there's no 1/4inch hole on the centerline. The provided 1/4 - 20 machine screws will work, but they should be just a tiny bit longer IMHO so there is at least 2 or three full thread engagement in the camera tripod socket.
