The Mackie MDB-2P is a stereo passive direct box designed to connect two mono instruments or a single stereo instrument to microphone preamps for musicians and audio engineers in recording sessions, houses of worship, and live stage applications. It converts high-impedance, instrument-level signal via its 1/4" TS unbalanced inputs to low-impedance, mic-level outputs via balanced XLR 3-pin jacks. Two 1/4" TS thru jacks allow simultaneous connection to amplifiers or pedalboards.

Each channel offers a -15 dB pad for reducing the input level to prevent distortion when using a high-gain source. The ground-lift switch inhibits hum caused by ground loops. Due to passive design principles, the MDB-2P requires no batteries or power supply. Its sturdy steel chassis enables confident use in the studio or on the road.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. is it compitable with mac?

A: The mixer will connect to most computers with the proper analog cable connections. There is no direct communication with the computers OS that will require compatibility.

Q: 2. Is the gain from this mixer sufficient for use with vintage ribbon microphones, such as the RCA77Dx? Thanks.

A: Tough to tell. I use a Heil PR 40 and do have to crank up the gain a bit. Great mixer and clean sound. Its worth giving it a try.

Q: 3. Will this work with the Teradek Ace 500?

A: No, this is the battery plate that is compatible with the Teradek Ace 500: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1493877-REG/teradek_11_0848_ace_battery_plate_for.html

Q: 4. Does this also take the place of adapter for lastolite softboxes?

A: No, it does not. It is made to connect accessories such as the Lastolite Snoot.

Q: 5. Can I plug in a line level input from a mixing board?

A: Yes

Q: 6. Does this device work with cordless phones as well or no?

A: Yes! If it is the main station that is plugged into a wall outlet. The thing works like a charm. I've already submitted a survey a couple of weeks ago. I hope this is not going be a routine

Q: 7. Can the interface record to an external hard drive via the usb-c connection in the back?

A: No, the Mackie MainStream Live Streaming and Video Capture Interface would need a computer between an external hard drive and the mixer.

Q: 8. What is the difference between LINE IN 3-4 and TAPE IN on Mackie 402VLZ4?

A: Tape in is just designed for playback and is routed directly to the output. Channel 3 and 4 is ballanced and will accept level signals.

Q: 9. How long will an L-series vs the LP-E6 battery run on a Teradek Bolt 500 XT transmitter? Thx.

A: This will depend on the exact NP-F style battery you use. However a large NP-F style battery, such as an NP-F975, is around 4-5 times longer in capacity than an LP-E6.

Q: 10. How tall is the tripod - what is the height range?

A: The manufacture dose not list the maximum height of the stand the Mackie 3-Color Ring Light Kit with Stand and Remote (10") comes with.
