This brown, ultralow-profile Microphone Madness MM-PSM-s Short Boom Pro Series Omnidirectional Earset Mic delivers clear spoken-word and vocal reproduction for presenters and performers working in music, theatrical, broadcast, house of worship, lecture, and presentation settings. It comes with a Hirose 4-pin connector that plugs into select Audio-Technica bodypack transmitters.

The MM-PSM-s Short Boom Pro Series earset features a 3mm capsule mounted on a very-short 1.25' boom that provides a tight fit with no movement while discreetly positioned away from the mouth for an unobtrusive fit. The lightweight earset can be worn on either the left or right ear and feels natural when used for extended periods of time. The extremely flexible boom is virtually unbreakable.

The capsule delivers full-frequency (20 Hz to 20 kHz) audio performance and high gain before feedback for detailed speech intelligibility. The 145 dB of dynamic range makes this mic well suited for loud vocal performances in houses of worship and on the musical stage. The mic's omnidirectional polar pattern offers enhanced plosive protection with no proximity effect for a natural sound.

All MM-PSM-s Short Boom Pro Series microphones are made in the USA.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Spacer boot

A: The mic comes with a rubber boot, it is used to attach the mic to the camera

Q: 2. Does it come with the xlr cable?

A: Yes, it comes with a 15-inch XLR cable.

Q: 3. Dose this work with the song NX80 handle grip?

A: Yes, it will. You are going to want to make sure that the setting on the grip is set to "Mic +48v"

Q: 4. Is this microphone part number 1-542-296-25?

A: No, it is not. It looks like the 1-542-296-25 was an accessory for a DS-400K camcorder. It had a hardwired cable and no controls. The ECM-VG1 would be an alternative, though.

Q: 5. Will this mic fit the Sony PXW-X70 mic holder without augmenting the diameter? Thanks for your time in advance.

A: Yes! This mic works perfect with the camera!

Q: 6. Is this microphone compatible with a Canon 5D Mark III?

A: No, the Sony ECM-VG1 Short Shotgun Microphone uses an XLR output whereas the Canon 5D Mark III has a 3.5mm mic input.

Q: 7. How does the sound quality compare to the diety d3 pro?

A: Both mics will provide high quality sound and they differ a bit in their features. The ECM-VG1 is designed to deliver a smooth and natural sound with a flat and wide frequency response range of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, low noise level of 18 dB and a high sensitivity of -33 dBV. It also has a two-position low-cut switch to reduce ambient reduce and can handle loud sounds up to 127 dB SPL. The D3 Pro is designed to deliver a clean and clear sound with low noise. It has a frequency response range of 50 Hz to 20 kHz, a low noise level and high sensitivity of -24 dBV. It also has a two-position low-cut switch and can handle loud sounds up to 130 dB SPL. Additionally, the D3 Pro has a gain knob that provides up to 20 dB which gives you better control of the mic's level. Other things to consider between the two mics are the powering options. The ECM-VG1 operates with phantom power only while the D3 Pro has a built-in rechargeable battery and the automatic on/off feature requires plug-in power from the camera or recorder. All of these factors are important to be aware of depending on the camera or recorder you will be using and its capabilities for input and powering.

Q: 8. Does this work backward with the earlier versions? 2,3,4?

A: No

Q: 9. Best microphone for use with Sony fdr-ax43a 4K using for drum classes on zoom

A: The ECM-VG1 requires phantom power over an XLR connection, so it will not be compatible with the Sony fdr-ax43a 4K. For this camcorder a shotgun microphone with a 3.5mm connection would be more suitable, such as B&H # ROVMNTG.

Q: 10. Low-cut. M for Music & V for Voice. I think? Crazy! The V position activates low-cut and M turns it off. Can I get an Amen?

A: The Sony ECM-VG1 Short Shotgun Microphone 'M' setting is for a flat frequency response and the 'V' setting is to engage the low-cut filter.

This product picks up great sound from objects that are far away. I was worried about not having wireless, but this mic works great. The size of the mic stays out of the video and doesn't over whelm when using.

dynamic sound from a tiny mic, i used it on my sony ax2000, doesn't compare with on camera mic, its sound much better, soud is clear and sharp no noise the only thing that bothers me is that it's more thin than my camera microphone holder

The on-board mic on my newly purchased Panasonic AG-HMC150 gives white noise and is not very sensitive. After reading a professional review of the AT875 short condenser shotgun mic from Audio-Technica along with many other more expensive microphones, I bought AT875 shotgun mic at B&H. It is a perfect fit for my camera. It is sensitive but without the white noise. I don't even need to use a shock mount for it since I don't hear the handling noise. The sound quality is greatly improved. I have it mounted on my camera all the time. It is short enough so I don't have to take it off when I put my camera into the camera bag that I bought separately. The title of the review article is As I hear it - Choosing the right microphone by Dan Brockett. You can easily find the article on-line since I cannot put the web link here according to the review policy of B&H. It is a great article. Good luck.

This performs great for what it is. An on camera mic. It's short so it won't get in the frame and will fit in a camera bag without having to remove it. Good job Audio Technica!

Purchased this to go with a Canon XA10. Great fit, and most importantly is the length, which means the tip of the mic/wind screen isnt seen in the lens. The mic also comes with a couple of O-RINGS that slip over the end of the mic and makes for a good fit in the XA10's mic cradle. Another mic i have which i was using before i purchased this one i had to rap some neoprene around it to clamp it in securely. It also comes with a foam wind screen. If you wish to purchase a fur windscreen, get one no longer than 125mm (5) overall to go with this. Dont purchase the Rode WS6 (as i did), as recommended in the accessories, as it is to long and can been seen in the video of smaller cameras like the XA10.

I use this to pickup elementary school students in their musicals. Excellent pickup capabilities without feedback.

Inexpensive yet good quality mic. You can pay a lot more but not a lot of people will be able to tell the difference in audio quality between this and much more expensive short shotgun mics. We are very pleased.

I got this mic to improve the sound on my Sony HVR-HD1000U camera, and I was not disappointed at all. I am shooting a documentary, and the sound track is critical. Two of these, long cables and a boom and I have pro quality sound!

I used this in a recent trip to the windy city of Rocky Point in Mexico. It captured wonderful audio in windy situations, a better wind screen would be useful, I would recommend buying one. Overall this is a great mic for the price! I would buy this over and over again. Nothing can beat this for the price!!!
