The CineSlider from Kessler Crane is a belt-driven, heavy-duty camera slider supporting up to 80 lb, and this model measures a total length of 28.5", it has a total weight of 7.7 lb, and a travel distance of 19". The slider is made of reinforced aluminum, and the slide rails are on the inside, where they're better protected.

This CineSlider supports 80 lb when placed on a surface or mounted on two tripods and 35 lb when positioned with a center mount. It is designed with adjustable drag control, which allows you to add resistance to the movement of the slider carriage, allowing for more consistency on slower slides. The drag control knob also works as a friction brake when fully locked down. It does not come with a crank handle, but you can add an optional Kessler Crank Handle at any time.

The CineSlider is capable of being motorized with one of several optional Kessler Crane motorized systems, such as the elektraDRIVE, CineDrive, or Second Shooter motion control systems. It can also be enhanced with the optional Kessler Parallax, which will add a panning axis, allowing for inward and outward panning shots.

With an 80 lb weight capacity, the CineSlider holds more weight than other Kessler sliders yet remains extremely portable at a starting weight of 7.7 lb. Add cameras, monitors, matte boxes, large lenses, and more and still have weight to spare.

Fluid drag controls are as important for sliders as for tripod heads, so now you can have that same ultrasmooth resistance to control your motion ensuring a perfect shot.

The CineSlider is compatible for use with elektraDrive, CineDrive, and/or Second Shooter motion control systems. Adding a motion control system to your slider will increase precision in movement and provide a platform to capture professional time-lapse, stop-motion, and live camera movement.

With the addition of a Parallax bar, you can easily add a panning axis to the slider. A removable crank handle can be added to the CineSlider to provide options for manual operation.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can anyone recommend a good case for this? The soft case mine came with is great but not for travel. Im looking for something as small as possible that will protect it. Pelican is my last resort as they are a little heavy...Cheers!

A: Kessler makes a couple of different cases that is on their website. One is pretty much a rebranded Pelican, and the other is a tube style case. The tube case is still about as much as the pelican and needs padding added to make a 3' slider secure. the one thin i would say about pelican that I am glad i purchased was because there was room for all my second shooter stuff, which I am thrilled i purchased. The pelican case has wheels too so it doesn't make it unbearable. the 1720 is what i ended up with.

Q: 2. What holes does it have to mount it on stands, 5/8" 3/8" or 14-20"?

A: The unit offers 5/8" 3/8" or 14-20" openings.

Q: 3. Can this slider be mounted to two 5/8 c-stands or light stands?

A: Get two of these to mount on the bottom of the slider. Then you can mount on C-Stand. Be sure to use enough sand bags.

Q: 4. Has anyone used this center-mounted on a tripod? Was there much bowing at the ends of the slider track?

A: No, We have not been able to test the Kessler Crane CineSlider for bowing. Much of this depends on you payload weight on the slider and we suggest using support like the following. https://bhpho.to/3Jb6shE

Q: 5. Is it possible to get an overhead shot (looking straight down) with this jib?

A: It is possible to get an overhead shot with this jib, however you'll probably want to attach a security cable to your camera to play it safe. There are two knobs that can be loosened to extend the jib; when both are fully extended the camera will stay parallel to ground, but if you extend the top bar further than the bottom bar you can progressively tilt the camera down further and further. This jib has been extremely useful on my shoots, where I rarely have an assistant, as I can set this up in just a few minutes. Make sure you properly set your counter weight, this and a bit of practice and you'll be getting some nice, smooth shots.

Q: 6. Can I center mount this cineslider to a regular 1/4' or 3/8' screw from a quick release plate?

A: You could, but it also depends on how strong the tripod and head that you're mounting it to.

Q: 7. does this crane need a specific kind of tripod?

A: The base of the Pocket Jib has a 3/8 -16 screw hole so it will mount to the base of any standard tripod leg. You will just want to make sure the tripod you use is rated to support the total payload.

Q: 8. I want to shoot video of jewelry: macro and ECU & CU with my Nikon d700. I have a steady video tripod. I am wondering if this will work for smooth shots, vertical and horizontal mounting. Also, is there a motor with two or three axis moves avail? This is a two part question. Please share your thoughts and experience. Starting a jewelry photo/video business and have a lot at stake. Thank you mucho!

A: Kessler is one of the top brands for sliders, you will be able to get a very smooth shots with this unit and it can be set up vertically as well. They also offer motorized units, like the Second Shooter Bundle, that you can use for 3-Axis Motorized Slides.

Q: 9. Does this slider works with a manfrotto 501 head?

A: The Kessler Flat Mount Adapter gives you a 3/8 -16 stud on the cart of the CineSlider, so you can mount a flat mount head, like the 501.

Q: 10. Hi the load capicity indicated is 10lb/4.5 kg. Does it include the counter balance weights or is it just calculated for the camera (or crane and camera)?

A: The load capacity refers to the weight of the camera and accessories.

The Kessler Cineslider is my go to slider for 90% of the interviews i shoot and a core of my time-lapse shooting. The system is built like a tank and takes a beating. I have used mine at the ocean, in the forrest, on top of mountains, etc. I do not keep mine in a case and it gets banged around quite a bit so I am not sure if that other reviewer is using a chainsaw on his or if he just straight up is not an owner and user of the product. If you are looking for a well built slider, this is best out there. Worth every penny.

We've use nothing but Kessler Crane for jibs and sliders and have put our 3' cineslider through hard treatment (dropped, scraped, thrown into trunks, etc...), mounting 7lbs-10lbs of gear on it with field monitors etc... and have had no issued whatsoever.

If you're reading about Kessler Cinesliders, then you've got an interest in Pro Gear. This product fits the bill. I've had this filming timelapse sequences in the dead of Winter in the garden and I've dragged it through deserts in Australia. It still gives me as beautifully smooth footage as the day I bought it.

If you buy the 5ft version (this product), then you'll need tripod support at both ends for stability. One tripod in the middle will not cut it. The ideal solution is two Kessler slider kwik release adaptor plates, two Kessler quick release receivers and two very heavy duty tripods (I use Manfrotto 536 sticks with 504HD heads).

Think about transporting this as well. There is a soft case made for these which is well made and will offer decent protection. If you want to fly with the unit or otherwise professionally protect the unit, I thoroughly recommend the Sportube Series 1 case - made for transporting skis. It's a beast - I store in this case and transport it everywhere. Note that you'll still need the soft case inside the hard case - otherwise it will slide around.

There's definitely cheaper options than Kessler on the market, but I'm yet to see a system that matches this quality.

I own a few Kessler Cinesliders as they are my go to slider systems for both manual and motion control shots. I use them for everything from interviews to time-lapse. The system is robust and built like a tank. They can take a lot of abuse. If an issue ever does come up like a lost part, or an adjustment is needed, Kessler takes care of it. I have never had an issue with any of my cinesliders. I bought three of them because of the build quality and stellar reputation. As for the comment about a rubber band being used for the carriage that is just silly. Its a kevlar reinforced belt. Same type of belt you find in high end robotics. Basically a thiner version of a timing belt in a car. They are built to last and do not break unless under hundreds of pounds of force. I am guessing that reviewer does not actually own the system. I have put everything from DSLRs on the system to Alexa mini and our Red Dragon package. It can handle the weight. If the system ever needs an adjustment you can call Kessler and they will tune it up. Great product and made in the USA.

This is some of the finest camera equipment I've used. Solid build, very well thought out, easy to maintain, tough as anything, and looks classy. I bought the traveler because I could easily center mount it on one tripod. I'm finding the length to be plenty long. I took it to the beach in the rain, the creek in the rain, the city in the rain, and it's as good as new. Then the fact that I can add top notch motion control makes it all the better. Finally, get the little feet things. I just got those today and I wish I'd just shelled out the extra for them in the first place.
