- Product Code: ga183984
-
Designed for the Loxia 25mm f/2.4, this Lens Hood from Zeiss is a spare or replacement part that substitutes the one originally included with the lens. It helps block stray light from entering the lens, minimizing the risk of flares or ghosting problems. Additionally, the hood serves as a physical barrier that protects the front element in case you accidentally bump or drop your equipment.

Q: 1. How is the lens on an A6000 (if anyone has ever tried it before)? I know that fitting this onto an APS-C makes it equivalent to a 75 mm but how is the image quality on an A6000. I'm considering getting one and then upgrading camera bodies later. Thanks
A: Zeiss lenses are some of the highest quality glass available. This lens will give you an excellent performance on a Sony A6000.
Q: 2. Lens hood storage, do you reverse it and attach it back onto the camera lens?
A: Yes, and because the lens hood is made of metal is nice and sturdy. Very well made.
Q: 3. Hi, can this lens mount a UV filter? I mean If I mount a UV filter, will it produce vignette? Thanks.
A: Hi, I have a Zeiss UV filter on my Loxia 35mm. There is no problem. Without the filter, there is very slight vignetting when the lens is wide open, remarkably little compared to other wide angle lenses I own. As far as I can notice, the filter does not add to the problem.
Q: 4. Since it's manual focus, does this lens have a focusing tab, like those on Zeiss and Leica lenses for the M mount? If not, how is the focus through from infinity to minimum focus distance?
A: Tabs are useful on rangefinder lenses because the lenses and focusing rings tend to be very narrow. with a short throw. The Loxia focusing ring is wide and ribbed, easy to grasp, and has a long, 135 deg throw. Most of this range is used for closeups, down to 0.2 meters. Normal focusing, say from 2m to infinity use about 45 deg of throw. There is a hard (and reliable) infinity stop. Using the focusing tools of the A7, this lens is nearly as fast to use as auto-focus, and unlike auto-focus, never goes crazy and hunts between shots.
Q: 5. Where is this manufactured and would the location of manufacturer make a difference when it comes to quality control issues such as decentering and misaligned lens elements?
A: All ZEISS camera lenses, regardless of where they are manufactured, are designed to meet exacting QC standards. You can purchase and use these lenses with confidence in knowing they are designed to offer the highest performance possible and built for many years of use.
Q: 6. What is the de-clicked function? I have a used Loxia lens, how to tell if the de-clicked function is disabled/enabled?
A: You can feel the difference between the click/declicked aperture rings;a declicked aperture ring moves smooth whereas a clicking aperture ring has subtle mechanical feedback whenever you turn the ring.
Q: 7. Can anyone confirm if this lens hood fit batis 40 and 85 mm?. The one from those are horrendously big. Thanks
A: This lens hood is not compatible with the Zeiss Batis 40mm and 85mm lenses.
Q: 8. Has anyone tried this with the Anamorphot 1.33 Adapter? I know the 35mm Loxia is beautiful with the Anamorphot adapter from SLR Magic.
A: You could attach this adapter with a step up ring such as the Sensei PRO 52-82mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring, B&H# SESURPA5282. However, your results may vary. https://bhpho.to/2yWBx6K
Q: 9. Has anyone noticed that with the aperture open to f2.4 on this lens, Sony A7 is showing f2.2 in the EVF/screen?
A: We have not heard reports of this occurring. You may wish to consider exchanging if within 30 days or sending the lens and or camera in for service.
Q: 10. are these lenses able to be brought for Nikon F mount?
A: The ZEISS Loxia lenses are designed for the Sony E and FE mount system only and will not work on F mount cameras with longer flange focal distances.
