Q: 4. I have a space of 128 cm in the trunk of my car that is small. I would like to know if this stand with wheels reaches in that space. According to the specifications says that the length closed is 120 cm but I'm not sure if that includes the wheels or just the column.

A: In transportation mode , I.E. When the stand is collapsed with the wheels folded the total length required to store it would be 133.5 cm. The casters do not come into play because they are attached about 10 cm up the tri-legs. When folded the unit actually stands on the end of the tips of the tri-legs and not on the casters at all. When the unit is in use with the legs extended and resting on the casters, the height from the floor to the top of the collapses stand is 129.5 cm , but I don t think you would be wanting to put it in your trunk this way. In any case all of the measurements are greater than the 128 cm. If the

Q: 5. What is the weight capacity just for the riser? It would be mounted in a Junior baby plate mounted on a deck.

Q: 7. Is the Matthews Riser Section for C+ Stand (40") available in black?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not offer this column in black.

Q: 8. Would a Matthews Infinity Arm plus this Matthews Hollywood Baby Jr. Triple Riser Stand make a decent tripod stand in for a lightweight mirrorless camera? https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1251333-REG/matthews_429627_infinity_arm_kit.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1251333-REG/matthews_429627_infinity_arm_kit.html/a

A: I'm afraid that you have no very good idea of how big and tremendously heavy the Riser Stand is, so I'd have to say that you'd be insane to use it as a stand-in for a tripod to hold a lightweight camera. Yes, the Stand is on wheels, but better to use a really lightweight stand from any one of many tripod manufacturers, that you could pick and move with a few fingers on one of your hands.

Q: 9. can the base footprint be adjusted? if I do not want to fully extend the legs?

A: Hi David,The short answer is no. The triangular footprint is designed to provide maximum stability when the legs are fully extended and the 3 wheels are angled correctly to roll smoothly on the floor. When properly set up, the 3 sets of orange coloured support bars should be parallel with the floor. I bought 2 of these from B&H last Fall and I choose them after months of research. They are build to last, very sturdy and heavy but if you need the mount a monolight and softbox securely, these Matthews stands tick all the boxes. Hope this helps, Gerry

Q: 10. Does this work well outside on a paved or smooth surface, like a sidewalk, driveway, boardwalk, etc

A: Yes. The following wheels are made of industrial polyurethane and hold up very well under heavy use.

This light stand is one the nicest, well built stand I have ever used. A little heavy to take it on location but its casters rolls so freely that you do not need to pick the stand while you are using it in the studio. This stand is well balanced and take heavy weight, boom or any studio lights. It is not air cushioned so care is needed when you move up and down the risers.

A generic C-stand riser worked on an older style Matthews C-stand turtle base, but this authentic Matthews 40 riser is sturdier (no play in the base). Well worth the purchase.

The net worth of my customers is intimidating. I like knowing I've got the safe seat possible environment in which to work. THis 10' riser holds my gear and counterweights securely. I rest easy knowing my lights are going to stay where I pout them no matter how high they are.

Paired with a great rolling base from KUPO and this was a winner.
Solid and holds well. Handles are well machined and the finish is proper.

Been using these in the studio and on tracks for the last 4 years. Got two more. You can't do better. Maybe heavy for some, but that's cool with me as once opened, they really do glide.

So, I've gone through most of the light stands on the market. Here's my thoughts... like spending your money on good glass, don't waste any money on the lighter weight junk. I'm sorry, but I wish someone had told me this when I started. By the time you sandbag, add a light head, add a softbox (or anything else) and try to set the stand at it's height you will clearly understand why I don't try to save $100 on other stands. Although others claim this is heavy, to big, etc... I'd ask, What are you shooting? This is portable, folded it will stand up without falling over, and is stable with almost any strobe based system you'll ever put on it. I even use the Matthews Mini Boom and a huge 86 PLM from Paul C Buff. No problems. Other than rolling it through a door opening, which you can do easily, this stand is rock solid. Don't waste your money on other stands that you will regret spending the money on later. Do it once, do it right. Enjoy. :)
