Q: 2. Will this work properly on a PS5? Will the speeds be acceptable?

Fast enough and big enough for all my needs. My main reason for wanting an external drive was to store and retrieve photos without having to rely on cloud storage. There is a lot of discussion about read/write speeds of HDD vs SSD, and SSD is superior and that's all true. SSD is so much faster than I am, I doubt I will actually notice a difference. I am glad I don't have to deal with the inconsistency of a DSL service to manage my images. This little drive works as fast as I need or possibly faster and it's about a third the price of a comparable SSD. It is also pretty quiet and reliable. I've been using and building PC's since the '90's. WD has been a trusted name in hard drives since then. If it ever goes bad, it will likely start making noise first. I will be able to replace it and still be money ahead compared to solid state. But that's just me. You might have different needs. Thank you Western Digital, Thank you B and H!
