Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. It says in the overview: Capture analog audio via 3.5mm unbalanced Line in jack. So if I have a PTZ Cam that has video only from it's SDI output that I can capture audio from an analog source simultaneously and this device will embed the audio with the captured video?

A: The answer is yes. you can capture video and audio from different source and it will combine during stream.

Q: 2. coming out of a mixing board line level, what kind of pad do I need to plug into the magewell? It says mic level going in

A: the input on this product is Line Level therefore you can go straight from your mixing board into the capture device. Magewell makes this a bit more clear on their website http://www.magewell.com/products/usb-capture-sdi-4k-plus

Q: 3. I am trying to use this with the ATEM studio switcher and connect it with the program out sdi of the switcher. But the sdi cable that the magwell comes with would not fit the ATEM switcher. Do you know what kind of cable I need?

A: You need to use a short sdi cable with bnc connectors. I use it with the same setup as yours and works fine.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with Blackmagic HDMI-to-SDI micro converter? I have a Panasonic GH5 which only has HDMI output. I'll connect the GH5 to the Blackmagic micro converter, then run a long SDI cable to the Magewell. My laptop will be very far away from the camera so I need the SDI version of the Magewell. Thanks! God bless!

A: While we have not used this equipment, we see no reason it will not work as you wish. Keep in mind he camera cannot output 4K over HDMI, only HD.

Q: 5. Could you connect a flash drive and have it directly record to it or does it need to go to a computer first?

A: That is not possible. This will first need to connect to a computer.

Q: 6. Can I use this with a Canon C200 to livestream to Zoom (C200 Magewell USB Capture SDI Gen 2 Zoom on a laptop)?

A: Yes, The Magewell SDI encoder will connect to the Canon C200 SDI output and allow you to stream live when connected to a computer. The Magewell encoder makes your C200 into a professional high quality webcam that would work with services like Zoom Meeting.

Q: 7. Will this work with BM TV Studio Pro HD at 1080p 59.94?

A: yes this will work with the ATEM TV studio HD at 1080p 59.94

Q: 8. Does this work with Wirecast? Magewell's website does not have Wirecast listed on the compatibility list on the spec sheet for this particular model. The other Magewell products on the site list Wirecast!

A: Yes it is compatible with Wirecast.

Q: 9. Could you conceivably stream multiple cameras using multiple Magewell dongles on the same laptop?

A: It is possible, but you would need a very powerful computer to be able to handle multiple of such a capture device. Not sure it would be optimal with a laptop.

Q: 10. Will the USB port be fast enough to transmit 4k to the computer? I thought only Thunderbolt 3 could handle that.

A: Yes, this supports 4K through USB 3.0.
