Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I just purchased the MCES-16 and I am finding that my X-T1 camera will not focus at all with the XF18-55mm lens. Am I missing a setting or something or is the tube defective?

A: When using the Fujifilm MCEX-16 16mm Extension Tube for Fujifilm X-Mount, you will lose infinity focus, but you will gain the ability to use the lens as a psuedo-macro lens to focus closer than the lens' listed minimum focus distance. However, do note that when focusing within close focusing distances, the camera would require contrast and lighting to be able to focus on your subject. Many people find it is easier to focus manually when using an extension tube. Autofocus may be achieved if it is bright enough or there is enough contrast on your subject, but it may hunt-and-peck back-and-forth trying to achieve focus, so focusing manually may be best in certain situations.

Q: 2. I have a XS20 and the use mm23 lens and I just bought the MCEX-16 tube and nothing is working. Am I doing something wrong or does the macro not work with my camera?

A: The extension tube only focuses at the lens minimum focus distance with the extension attached. If your extension tube combination exceeds the amount of mm of your lens it can not focus because the magnification is higher than what's permitted by the optics in the lens.

Q: 3. Will the MCEX 11 and 16 work on the following: 35mm f1.4 18-55mm 16-55mm thank you.

A: The FUJIFILM MCEX-11 and the FUJIFILM MCEX-16 is compatible with all FUJIFILM XF and XC lenses on FUJIFILM X-series cameras.

Q: 4. I'm using this 11mm macro extension with my 18-55mm Fujifilm lens, but it's not focusing at all. Everything is completely blurry. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

A: You are most likely too far away. Point of the tube is to bring minimum focus point of lenses closer, but they will not focus far away at all. Also, that distance is dependent on the focal length.

Q: 5. Does the 16mm extension tube have weather seals as well, or does using it strip weather sealed lenses and bodies of the weather sealing?

A: No Body Caps and Weather Seal .I only using it with 55-200mm and so far so good .

Q: 6. Can you use this extension tube with Viltrox lenses?

A: Yes this extension tube can be used with Viltrox lenses that have a Fuji X series mount.

Q: 7. Wondering which extension tube will pair better with the 18-55, the 11mm or the 16mm, and what the difference would be?

A: I use mine on the 18-55 2.4-4 lens and it works awesome. I zoom the lens all the way out though

Q: 8. Can you use this along with the MCEX-11 at the same time, to further increase macro abilities?

A: There is no technical specification out on these. Until Fuji releases the technical data on these and or when they are actually in stock there is no way of knowing for sure if they can be used attached to each and stacked.

Q: 9. Will the Fujifilm MCEX-16 Macro Extension Tube work with XC lenses also?

A: Yes.

Q: 10. I have 16mm, 27mm, 35mm and 18-55mm. Should I buy this MCEX-11 11mm or MCEX-16? Which lens would benefit the most from these 2 tubes for macro photography?

A: You can decide by referring to the following table from Fujifilm. B&H won't let me include a hyperlink, so... Go to the Fujifilm Web site, click on products, digital cameras, accessories, lens (Lens Accessories). There is a link to a PDF entitled Magnification of the Macro Extension Tube. The document is a table for all Fujifilm lens and both extension tubes.
