This router supports whole-home mesh networking. Simply extend an existing RT2600ac Wi-Fi network with an additional MR2200ac or integrate multiple MR2200ac mesh routers. The single SSID name you set allows you to roam from room to room without signal dropping. With one 2.4 GHz and two 5 GHz bands available, this router utilizes MU-MIMO technology to enable simultaneous connections from multiple devices, which helps maximum Wi-Fi speeds and reduces congestion.

Use Smart Connect to ensure devices are automatically connected to the ideal band for optimal connection performance, reducing delays and interruptions.

Use Guest Network to provide a secure connection and give public and temporary visitors limited permissions and access. You can also set up a welcome portal for everyone connecting to your Guest Wi-Fi. You will also have access to tools such as scheduling, auto password change, and MAC address filtering to prevent unauthorized access.

There is a dedicated WPS button on the router. Simply press it to allow your Wi-Fi connection to automatically configure and enjoy a hassle-free setup. You can also attach a printer or an external hard drive via the USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A port for wireless access and file sharing.

Synology Router Manager (SRM) provides tools so you can quickly set up, customize, and efficiently troubleshoot issues.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this wallmountable?

A: Unfortunately there is not a wall mount for the Synology WRX560 AX3000 Wireless Dual-Band 2.5G & Gigabit Router.

Q: 2. Does this router have a consistently low latency without latency spikes on wireless? Is the wireless connection reliable?

A: Short answer - yes it's great, best latency and reliability i've had in a router thus far. I've used in a 2,400 sq ft house with PCs, IOS devices, Sonos, XBox, NS on wireless. The gamers in the house were delighted with the router replacement and I did not need to drop the consoles into a DMZ. I am not sure I know enough to give more details, but here goes: used tracert just to check, results are in very low single digits. Occasionally I see the DNS result on the tracert spike up to 12ms or so, but I might have configured DNS incorrectly. (I use OpenDNS as my Internet DNS server, and then the router's address as the primary DNS on the local network.)

Q: 3. Does this router support link aggregation?

A: The Synology RT6600 AX6600 Wireless Tri-Band 2.5G / Gigabit Router BH #SYRT6600AX does not support link aggregation.

Q: 4. Is there a recommended size and speed for the usb drive required to use the Threat Prevention app? I want to make sure my drive is of a sufficient size and I wasn't able to find anything on the Synology website.

A: According to Synology's website, Threat Prevention is only available for the RT2600ac and RT1900ac routers. Threat Prevention is not listed as compatible with the RT6600.

Q: 5. How does the guest network session time limit work? Is it per device or all devices on the guest network? What is the shortest limit configurable?

A: The Guest network in the Synology RT2600AC AC-2600 Wireless Dual-Band Gigabit Router kit can be set up from one hour to one week.

Q: 6. Will this replace my current router and extenders?

A: This could be a replacement for your current router and extender. It's also likely you will experience faster speeds and a more stable network.

Q: 7. Will these 2 items replace my current router and extenders or do I need additional equipment?

A: Yes this would replace a router and extender.

Q: 8. Does this router support beamforming?

A: No, the Synology RT6600 AX6600 Wireless Tri-Band 2.5G / Gigabit Router does not support beamforming.

Q: 9. domain blocking. Previous versions of google mesh routers have not allowed blocking certain domains while other companies have. Has this been addressed in the pro?

A: Unfortunately individual site blocking is still not possible with the Google Nest Wifi Pro AXE5400. To block individual sites at the router level, a third party solution like OpenDNS would be required.

Q: 10. In which country is this item manufactured?

A: It's Made in Taiwan. Worth to have it. Good product.

Super-easy setup, has been rock-solid in the week that it's been up. Added with wired backhaul to an existing RT2600ac main router, and couldn't have been easier. Signal strength is very good (but not fantastic - doesn't reach down through 3 levels to our backyard, which is forgivable), but it transparently hands off between units without any interruption on cellphones as you wander around inside. Highly recommended!

I use two of these MR2200 with RT2600ac for home mesh system. Seems to work very well for me. It is not for non-experts, this system gives lot more controls to user than simple consumer grade routers. I understand networking systems more than regular consumer... My combination covers my house and garden very well. My prior Apple Airport router with two Airport express in mesh were lacking coverage and speed in some areas. This new system has been real upgrade in speed, coverage, and controls. As far as I can say, all dead spots are gone now.

The MR2200ac is another very nice product from Synology.  This is integrated with my Synology RT2600ac router to be an access point to extend wi-fi coverage – mesh wi-fi.  Setup is almost automatic and took about 2 hours, unboxing to finished.  The documented instructions are a bit thin, but the bottom line is to follow the on-screen directions.  Starting at my main PC with the router and AP within sight, and logging into to the router’s web page, the router will discover the MR2200ac via wi-fi, handle all the network connections and updates (this took several minutes) and will establish the access point.  Then, connecting a CAT6 Ethernet cable to the MR2200ac’s WAN port, the router will think a bit and determine that the connection is now wired – Ethernet backhaul.  Checking the performance, full network speed is available between the router and AP.  At about this point, the router’s SRM operating system may realize that the versions differ between the units.  I was prompted to update, with a window to select the update file for each box from my local computer.  Sidetracking, I downloaded each .PAT file from Synology’s download site.  Click GO and the SRM will update in each box, taking another few minutes.  The final test was then to relocate the AP to another location (on a UPS for reliability), plug in the WAN to my network, and re-check the setup on the router’s SRM.  After some handshaking, all was well and I now have reliable 2.4 GHz and 5GHz coverage, with stronger signals and much faster speeds.  The Ethernet connection to the WAN port is through 2 switches to the router, with no speed loss.  Where I had 25%  ISP internet download speed with a medium to weak signal at 2.4 GHz (and unusable 5 GHz) with the router alone, I now have seamless 100% speed at 5GHz.  You may finder cheaper solutions, but the easy integration with the Synology RT2600ac adds a lot of value for me.

Seamless software experience adding this unit as a mesh router with our existing Synology RT2600AC, and sure enough, we have excellent WiFi coverage all over the backyard now for our pandemic summer work-from-home setup.

I haven't had the mesh router very long so can only review some aspects of the router.

Note that I purchased the Synology Mesh Router because a Synology RT2600ac was already installed since 2017, and several WiFi devices had been added since then.

Installation was easy and the new router was working quickly. The two routers are wired together and the mesh router feeds into a switch. Things have worked without problems since installation.

Synology seems to have an ongoing effort of providing additional function in the router management software which is greatly appreciated. My one minor complaint is that the router software is broken into several modules and I don't remember which module has which function. For example, I backup the router configuration every month, but never sure which module has the backup routine. This complaint is minor and wouldn't stop me from recommending Synology. Still I hope Synology will fix this in the future.

When I have questions, the support staff at Synology have been quick to provide answers although they don't always answer the question I think I am asking. Not sure if they are so used to seeing the same questions over and over that they think I am asking the same thing, or I haven't posed the question very clearly. However, this doesn't impact my recommendation as other vendors are much much worse.

I've had the Google cubes, Almond extenders and I finally have the perfect fit with the Synology Wireless Tri-Band Mesh Router. The mesh router resolved a lot of reception issues I was facing throughout my home. I was experiencing a lot of buffering and more than once lost the signal that forced me to reboot, either my router or extenders. I love my Synology.

Still has some occasional issues with somewhat older devices (MBP 2016) which don't always hand-off seamlessly between multiple routers, but it is far better that any other MESH router that I've tried in every respect. Streaming is fine due to buffering, but file downloads tend to fail. Only other minor gripe, I wish each unit had 4 LAN/WAN drops instead of 2. I tend to put these at my entertainment centers which could use the wired connections. A switch resolves this or I Just have more devices in wireless mode, but anything to reduce congestion helps. I'm looking forward to a WiFi6 version of this from Synology.
