The Fujinon MK50-135mm T2.9 Lens is a lightweight cine-style zoom lens for MFT mount cameras with a Super 35mm-sized sensor. It features a mechanical design with three independent lens control rings: focus, iris, and zoom. Each ring incorporates a cine-style gear with a 0.8 MOD for interfacing with standard cine-style lens accessories. The focus ring features approximately 200° of rotation, which provides room for precise focus pulls, and the iris is clickless, enabling smooth iris pulls. The lens also incorporates a macro mode for close focusing capabilities.

The lens is color matched to other Fujinon lenses such as the HK, ZK, and XK series, which enables smooth intercutting between lenses. The 85mm front enables use with many cine-style matte boxes via use of optional step-up rings (rings not included). The lens weighs only 2.16 pounds, which is fairly light for a cinema zoom that holds focus and aperture throughout the focal length range. It is designed for camera's with an MFT mount, so it has a short flange focal distance, but the lens allows flange focal distance adjustment so you can fine-tune it to the camera you are using the lens on.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. There is a PL mount also?

A: We do not have this kit of lenses available with a PL mount.

Q: 2. How would these lenses perform on a Sony Alpha a7R IV, say compared to the 2 Sony video lens, ie FE PZ 28-135 F4 OSS and E PZ 18-105 F4 G OSS?

A: Both the Fujinon MK18-55mm T2.9 Lens (Sony E Mount) and the Fujinon MK50-135mm T2.9 Lens (Sony E Mount) would be compatible for use with the Sony Alpha a7R IV Mirrorless Digital Cameras. While I have not seen optical performance comparison tests between the Fujinon lenses and the Sony lenses, both would be compatible for use on the a7R, and should have similar build quality and performance.

Q: 3. Does this version really weigh 2kg? Or do I have to purchase the Duclos version for the 980g weight?

A: the manufacturers specification lists the weight of the lens at 4.4 lb / 2 kg

Q: 4. Is this lens parfocal?

A: Yes, both lenses in the the Fujinon MK18-55 & MK50-135 T2.9 Cine-Style Lens Kit are parfocal. Generally speaking, cinema manual focus zoom lenses like these are parfocal whereas still auto focus zooms are not.

Q: 5. Can the handle grip on the Sony FS-7 operate the zoom function for this lens?

A: Yes it can. All you need is a motor. Thoughtfully, Chrosziel has come to the rescue and has made one for the MK lenses. Chrosziel Compact Zoom Control Kit for Fujinon MK Lenses B&H # CHCDMMKZ

Q: 6. The sony E version weights 2.1 pounds but the RF version weights 4.4lbs? Is that an error ?

A: The lens weighs 2.2 Pounds. Our apologies for any confusion our web team will update the website shortly.

Q: 7. Can anyone comment on how the image quality of this lens compares to Canon's 24-70 f/2.8II L? Or there other L-series glass.

A: Fujinon lenses are not comparable to Photography lenses at all. This is an apples and oranges type of thing.

Q: 8. is there a servo motor that works with these?

A: The Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless Lens Control System would be a great option to control the these lenses, BH #TINUCLEUSM. https://bhpho.to/2vbeAxo

Q: 9. Could you use a 1.5x or 2x telephoto adapter on this lens?

A: The Fujinon MK18-55mm, being a wide to medium zoom, is an unlikely candidate for a teleconverter. Generally speaking, teleconverters are only effective on fast, high quality prime telephoto lenses. Use on other lenses is usually not successful. Mostly the issues are the lens becoming too dark for proper auto or manual focus, softening of the image, introduction of chromatic aberration and inability to mate due to conflicts in design. At this time there are only two E mount teleconverters available on the market. They are made by Sony and the only lens compatible with them at this time is the Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS.

Q: 10. Would this kit on a Sony FS7 give the same practical focal length equivalent as a Canon 24-105 + 70-200 with a speed booster adapter?

A: The Fuji lens kit give you an 18mm to 135mm focal range. The Canon 24-105mm lens, if you multiply by the Metabones Canon EF Lens to Sony E Mount T CINE Speed Booster ULTRA 0.71x (Fifth Generation) B&H # MEMBSPEFEBT3 0.71 factor gives you an effective 17mm to 95.85mm. So you get 1 more mm at the wide end, which helps, but you lose at the tele end a fair amount. I would say this is a good, affordable solution until you can get the Fujinon's.
