Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. what connector is needed to hook up my cameras to the switcher? I have Panasonic AG AC 8 cameras.

A: HDMI (Type A Full size)

Q: 2. Is thee any lag when switching HDMI sources? I assume there is not, but HDMI switchers (except very high end switchers) do not typically switch instantaneously

A: There should be no lag at all. There are 2 kinds of switchers, A/V Switchers and Production Switchers. A/V Switchers are the more basic kind, when you go from input to input there is some sort of delay, in some cases it can glitch with the lower priced units. Then there are Production Switchers, which are designed with live switching in mind so they will have no delay or glitching when you go from input to input. You can even do dissolves and wipes. This is a Production Switcher so when you go between the HDMI channels it will be instant.

Q: 3. Is it possible to scale down and re-position a green screen source while using the chroma key effect? I'm wondering if I can use it to record my green screen cam feed over my gaming output. The SDI version seems to be able to zoom the inputs, but need to see if the HDMI version does.

A: Dear Phillip:I haven't unpacked my switcher yet and I am not familier with the product.

Q: 4. Does the HDMI output have embedded audio? For instance, if I have analog audio going into the V-1HD via the RCA inputs will it be embedded into the HDMI output signal? thanks!

A: Yes, the audio you take in will go out the HDMI output.

Q: 5. Can I use this equipment in live production?

A: This can be used for live production.

Q: 6. Can I presume that this switcher would take Line Level in audio from an external mixer like a Shute FP stereo field mixer? To imbed all in an hdmi audio/video signal out?

A: It has a left right line level input on the back of the unit. They are unbalanced RCA inputs. It will imbed into the video out.

Q: 7. Can you connect to your computer via the hdmi out instead of the usb?

A: The USB port on the switcher. is for Connecting a tablet and controlling the Switcher that way. If you need to plug a computer in to display something from your computer, you can do so only by plugging into the hdmi input of the Switcher. if your computer uses a USB to HDMI adapter to display to an external monitor, then yes you could plug your computer in to the HDMI input. Hope this helps- have a nice day!

Q: 8. Does this do picture in picture - as in channel 1 HDMI in channel 2 HDMI ?

A: Yes it does. The Roland V-1HD does both Picture-in-Picture and Split Screen effects. You will be able to have HDMI Channel 1 inside HDMI Channel 2, and vice versa, using the PIP effect.

Q: 9. Can I stream with this switcher by sending the video feed to my laptop and thru YouTube or Ustream or do I need streaming hardware?

A: The streaming hardware IS actually your laptop. But you will need some kind of a HDMI input device for your laptop. I use a blackmagic usb3 device to get the hdmi signal into the laptop. And then you will need some kind of streaming software. I hope this helps. Brent

Q: 10. I wish that the switcher had a designated Black button. How do you users feel about the twist to black set up? And WHY a twist to white ????

A: I agree, a rotary knob to fade to black (or white) on a HD switcher does not seem quite right. What I have done is mix to any unused input, which gives a nice smooth fade to a very solid black. Of course, if all 4 inputs are in use the only option is the knob.
