Q: 1. I'm looking for a broadcast arm that supports the RE20. Does this broadcast arm do that and are there any others?

A: I have been using this arm with my RE20 and RE27 mics (and a few others) for about 8 months now. It works very well. It's smooth and sturdy. I also have a Heil PL2T that works great, comparable to the Auray. The Heil has the advantage of having a topless surface, which means the top of the top arm is open. If you take the plastic insert out, you can run your mic cable in there and put the insert back in place for a cleaner look. The Auray has the advantage of coming with the extension if you need more height, while for the Heil it is a separate accessory. I also like that the Auray comes with a base/insert that keep the bottom of the arm out from the wall an inch or so (assuming you have the arm mounted at the back of your desk against a wall like I do) to avoid scuffing the paint off the wall. You can also purchase the Auray base (BAC-1) alone, so I purchased an extra one and put the Heil arm in it, with a little bit of modification. (The Auray arm does not fit into the Heil base) I tried the Rode PSA1 arm also. It seemed good with the RE20/RE27, but if you have a lighter mic on it, or no mic, the upper arm stands up as opposed to staying in the position you place it in. The Auray and Heil stay put and seem more solid to me. The Rode has a few inches less reach also. In my opinion the Auray or Heil are both excellent choices for the RE20 or just about any other mic, depending on your needs.

Q: 2. Can this record from a mixer? I use the Behringer XENYX 1202 12-Channel Audio Mixer and want to be able to a backup of the audio during live performances.

A: Thanks to a 3.5mm stereo mini-jack input that supplies 2.5V plug-in power, the H2n can accommodate an external condenser microphone such as a clip-on lavalier for crisp, close-miked speech reproduction. Plugging in an external source to the 3.5mm jack overrides the onboard X/Y stereo mic, so no menu-based input selection is required. Since the 3.5mm input also supports line-level signal, you can route the output of a wireless microphone receiver into the H2n.

Q: 3. Is line-in recording from computer or xrl outlet possible? Thanks...

A: The Zoom H2N features a 3.5mm input jack that is compatible with both line or mic level signals. The line out from a computer is able to be recorded to the H4N using the proper cable. if connecting from the headphone/line out of the computer a stereo 3.5mm cable can be used.

Q: 4. I notice the Auray BAI-2N mic boom arm does not include any type of cable. I checked online & the instruction manual that comes with the arm does not say how to add an XLR cable. Does anyone know what is the protocol to add a cable to the Auray BAI-2N?

A: The cable for the Auray BAI-2N mic boom arm XLR is draped over the joints of the arm. Have a look at the photos on our website and you will see how. B&H # AUBAI2N

Q: 5. Does this have straps for cable management? I want to strap my Shure X2U to the arm, it makes it easily accessible while keeping it out of the way.

A: Not included. These will work fine: Pearstone 0.5 x 6 Touch Fastener Straps (Black, 10-Pack)B&H # PES050610B

Q: 6. Any specific recommendation for rec mode and placement for recording piano performance to camera (Nikon Z6ii)? I'm thinking WITHIN piano using XY mic facing perpendicular to keys and line output -20dB or so? Thnx much.

A: That sounds about right

Q: 7. I am planning on installing the monitor arm into my desk rather then to the edge? How do I do so? also, what screws do I need as I only have the 2 that were preinstalled?

A: To install the Auray BAI-2N, you will need to remove the foam backing og the mount. This will expose 3 screws that will allow you to detach the desk clamp. The included mounting screws (4) will allow you to secure the mount to a desktop surface.

Q: 8. Can I run my own xlr cable through the arm? I want to use my red cables.

A: We cannot recommend disassembling the arm to do so.

Q: 9. can the h2n be used as a line mike for say a zoom video confrence?

A: Yes, the Zoom H2n can be used as a USB microphone for video conferencing applications like Zoom or Skype when the H2n is connected directly to a computer.

Q: 10. Does it comes with straps for cable management?

A: Not included. These will work fine: Pearstone 0.5 x 6 Touch Fastener Straps (Black, 10-Pack)B&H # PES050610B
