Okay, the Sony RX100 VII is expensive, but man is it worth it! The zoom on this thing is crazy good – I can get everything from wide landscapes to close-ups of birds. The autofocus is insane too – it tracks my dog running around like it's nothing. If you're looking for a camera that can basically do it all and still fit in your pocket, this is the one.

Don't buy this camera as a point and shoot. It has tremendous capabilities. One person figured it has 183 options. I recommend first that you get Alexander White's book to guide you through these options efficiently. An example of its capability I have taken images at 4000 iso that Topaz Photo AI was unable to improve. In addition since Sony RAW is not converted by Lightroom 6, I recommend downloading Adobe DNG Converter which is free.

Just added this camera as one more tool in my equipment cabinet. The only negative right out of box is not much grip when using one handed. Fixed that right away by getting a grip made by JJC - that addition improved the ergonomics 1000%. I always shoot in RAW and then edit in LR Mobile on my iPAD (mini 6) - the images are stunning - this camera punches way above its weight class. Worth every penny.

I brought this camera to Southern Italy and took some lovely photos of the Greek temples in Paestum. The zoom helped with composition avoiding onlookers. I printed a few 8x12 Prints with no grain issues. The camera fits comfortably in a jacket pocket and looks quite unassuming.. Perfect for street photography.

This is the second RX100 I now own. My mod 4 still works after years of use, but I wanted the newer one.

This is my pocket camera that actually fits in a pocket. Great image quality, loads of features, not a lot more to be said. As capable as many other cameras in a much smaller form factor.

This camera has a substantial learning curve. For the first couple weeks I thought the autofocus was broke because my close ups were blurred worse than you'd expect from a kid's camera. I read the manual, looked at youtube videos, and finally called B&H for help. David at B&H got me pointed in the right direction and after some easy tweaks in the menu I started getting wonderfully crisp images. They rival my Sony Model 10 IV. So, now clarity is excellent, image stabilization is excellent, color is very good, in fact with careful editing this camera is capable of creating wall hangers and Oh Wow! moments from viewers. Did I mention this camera is complicated? But after getting the essentials figured out, it's just fun to use. And rewarding. I love it.

$1300 is a lot of money for a camera that slides into your pocket unless it works better than any other camera you've owned. My Nikon DSLR days are over. This tiny beast is now mine!!! If there is anything to miss is that there's not much DOF with the slow lens. However, it's possible to improve DOF on close shots by extending the lens a bit.

I needed a camera for a safari and after telling the salesperson what I needed, I was surprised with how knowledgeable the salesperson was. He told me the positives and challenges of each camera. So much choice and so much knowledge is a huge benefit.
I strongly recommend B and H to anyone looking for a camera or any equipment they sell

I have owned the RX100, RX100IV and now the RX100VII. All of these cameras take amazing photos, but the VII is the best. The Zeiss line of lenses have always impressed me with their sharpness and pleasing contrast, but only the VI and now the VII offer a 24-200 zoom range. This is all I could ask for in a compact camera of this size. Unlike the IV, which had a two step optical viewfinder, the VII’s viewfinder opens and closes with a single push, making it faster to operate. I print my own photos and I have no problem making 16x20 prints with this camera. Sony’s 1” sensors are some of the best in the industry. There is a plethora of features on this camera, so a learning curve is to be expected, but once you have this camera dialed in, you will be rewarded with excellent quality images and videos.
