The replacement FP-001 Flat Plate for Vantage Series 3 and 5 Tripods from Robus is compatible with the RC-5558, RC-5570, RC-8860, and RC-8880. The machined aluminum plate fits firmly into the yoke of any of these tripods. Ball, gimbal, or video heads without a video bowl mount to the plate's 3/8"-16 threaded mount and are held securely in place with a set screw. A camera bag or sand bag can be hung from the counterweight hook, which is located on the bottom of the plate, to add weight and further stabilize a tripod while using it in windy or inclement weather.

Very sturdy! Not that I have much experience with others to compare to other than cheap Kmart brand from many moons ago (Lol) but no longer have. Looks very comparable to the Gitzo but I got the Robus on sale for a lot less. Everything works smooth and flawless, no complaints. Its very tall, I probably would have been fine with the 5570 but I tend to go overkill on things. If your looking for a great sturdy tripod I don’t think you can go wrong with this one, go for it! 5

Extreme quality without an extreme cost. Impressively built for the harshest of conditions nature can deliver. A must consideration for the outdoor and nature photographer. Easy to setup and adjust to your personal preference. Locking legs and rugged construction will keep your photography in the game. . 5 star in my book! 5

I agonized over getting this tripod or the Gitzo and it's well deserved reputation. I wasn't sure it was worth saving a few hundred dollars and possibly putting my gear on something that wasn't stable ( or stable enough ). Finally said Screw it, I can always return it. Full disclosure, I have never used a Gitzo so I have nothing to compare to, but the Robus is very well built and EXTREMELY stable. The legs lock in place solidly, collars are easy to tighten/loosen and the gimbal mounted easily. Before mounting a camera and lens I leaned on it, pushed on it, etc and it is just solid. Put the camera, 600 f4 and Wimberly head on it and no issues. I can't really see how something else could be that much more stable to be worth the price difference, but I guess time will tell. The included bag and 2 extra sets of feet just add to the value. Very happy with this purchase. 5
